I love the Courts Saddles, found one, but it weighs 31 lbs, it that too much? I can lift it with no problems, just if that was too much added weight. any thoughts?

Most saddles will weigh about 26 and the better ones with more leather a few pounds more. No, fit is far more important than the weight! 5 or 6 lbs isn't a big issue for most.

I honestly don't think 5-10 lbs heavier or lighter makes any significant difference. Some people go so far as to suggest heavier stirrups makes a significant difference. It only does in the sense that if you lose a stirrup, it's easier to find during a run if it's heavier and thus flopping around less.

I went from a 28 lb to a 14 lb. For my mare it has made a big difference only because she did not like heavy saddles, she was originally ridden English, didn't want anything to do with Western; however the much lighter weight was the answer for her and for me too, much easier on my old shoulders and wrists lifting 14 lbs opposed to 28.

I like heavy saddles. My barrel saddle doesn't weigh much but my rope saddle weighs a lot and I work my horses in that 99% of the time. The only time I put a barrel saddle on is when I am competing. I like rope saddles way more. Always have.

My Courts saddle seems heavy compared to my Double J, but I have never weighed either of them. Not much help, but that is what it seems like to me.
