Location: Kansas | My munchkin was given a saddle yesterday...to match the pony she was given :)....by her daycare provider!!! The saddle isn't quality leather, but she loves it! I tried to oil it with neatsfoot oil last night, but it doesn't seem to be working LOL. What would be the best oil to use on it? I want to make sure this will last her a few years.
Here is a picture of it, and I added a picture of the pony "mac" too!! :)

Location: Where I am happiest | Neatsfoot oil will actually break down the stitching. Olive oil is a better alternative. However, when my new Caldwell came they included a jar of some leather stuff that is amazing!!! I think it's called blackrock? Call Caldwell saddle co. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | To apply oil it must be applied to the rough out side. Most saddles have a finished coating on the top side. Don't use olive as mice like it. If you want to darken it keep apply till the oil seeps through just remember when you sit on it , it will also apply to your clothes. The best oil I've used came from Mast. Pure harness leather oil. |

Mice will hunt out and eat the olive oil covered saddles no joke. If your keeping in the house you'll be fine but if keeping in a trailer or barn the field mice will find it. |

Location: Moving soon..... | A friend of mine that makes and repairs saddles told me to use olive oil because if it gets on your clothes it will wash out. I have never had issues with mice due to having the best mousers. |

| I was told olive oil also. I have never had a problem with mice, either and our place is cat free. |

Location: Willows, CA | Man, if the mice hit a Pedrini saddle of mine I would feel like I had damaged a piece of history. I have used Olive oil for years, but then again, I just might have been lucky. I will be a little less careless from now on just in case. |

| I vote for Skidmores. AMAZING stuff. We use it on saddles, tack, boots ... my Dooney and Burke purse, my Coach bag, basically any real leather that I want to preserve. Works like a charm to keep it soft and supple.
Whatever oil you use, be sure to clean the leather really well first!
Good Luck and SUPER CUTE pony!
ETA - also use it on my shooting chinks, shooting belts, etc :-)

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Just looking at it, the skirting doesn't quite look right to be leather. If it isn't taking in oil it may be a synthetic type of material. |
