 Go For It!

THE QUICK FIX... So your horse isn't working the way he should, he's diving in at the barrels, pulling on you during the warm up, and stiffening up when you try to help him in the run... "Doc, I have a barrel race next weekend and this horse is not wanting to work. I think he's hurting somewhere, can you fix it?" How many times have you seen this scenario played out? We go to the vet, get our horses injected, spend $800.00 and head to the barrel race. Dang horse does the same thing he did before the $800.00. Often times what we think is a soundness issue is simply a hole somewhere in our training. Our horses start out giving us subtle little hints that a problem is developing. Many times we don't recognize those hints until they become an issue in competition. I can promise you that your horse has a problem somewhere in their foundation that is showing up in those runs. There is no "quick fix" to a problem... You may get by and have a "temporary" fix by using a bigger bit or adding a tie down, but that is only going to work until they figure out how to get around those aids. Spend the time to do things right. In the long run you will have a happier horse, a happier you, and a little more green on St Patrick's Day. Have a blessed day everyone!
