Location: Cocoa, Florida | Lazy!!! Hates work and going forward but when you put them in the bArrel racing pen they just come alive!? I have one that is such a pain in the butt to work and exercise, she's lazy and very moody but once she sees
You're ready to run she goes out and flat smokes it up!!!
I've checked for lameness issues and so on, she will pin her eats and shake her head sometimes during work but when we run she is a locomotive on a mission to win!
I don't get it, does anyone else have a horse like this? |

I have a son of Pretty Boy Perry out of a Runaway Winner/By Yawl mare ... He's 8 this year, and sooooolaid back .
I have been careful in his schooling, as he was a fire breathing dragon at one time. 9 starts..84SI.
He s so laid back , at home.. So lazy, that I have to carry a dressage crop, and then he may extend a trot! lol!
but haul him to a barrel race and its game on. He knows his job and is turning into a nice barrel horse.

Location: TN | Sounds like my boy! For a while I was worried something was wrong with him - I didn't have to constantly kick but he would just take his time warming up and you'd have to ask him to speed up above a walk. Apparently he's just lazy and gets bored exercising in the arena. But break out those barrels and he comes alive! I guess that's a sign that he loves his job. :) He also loves to go fast exercising in a field - that brings out a whole other battle to slow him back to a long trot lol. So pretty much he's only lazy when exercising in a confined area like an arena or a small grassy area like warming up before a rodeo.

Location: Cocoa, Florida | If I'm not riding with my split reins to tap her with I have to ride with a crop to get her to extend forward. She has the best most laid back disposition but she's such a....MARE! Moody little thing, it's just frustrating because I like them to move forward without me constantly asking but with her you have to keep on her. Funny thing is that she's running bred top and bottom!!!

I'll trade with you! My mare loves barrels and is fairly good at them, not fast yet, but I have such a hard time slowing her down and keeping her from going faster during our loop (appx. 2 miles I use to keep her on shape). She is always wanting to trot or lope, and you have to keep checking her to keep her in a walk. Yet at a barrel race she is laid back and go with the flow until we are in the arena, then it is time to make our run. |

| We have a horse that is sooo lazy in the arena. You need to constantly push him to keep him moving. The moment you stop pushing he comes to a complete stop. We started noticing him pin his ears a bit when saddling and just over all getting a bit grumpy when asked to lope. Decided to treat him for ulcers. Now there isn't a lazy bone in his body. He wants to work. You never have to push him, he's actually a bit hot now. We always said he would be one of the ones that never got ulcers because he was such a dead head and lazy. Guess I was wrong! |

Location: North Dakota | Yep! I have two of them. I feel like I need to beat their butts just to keep them in a lope but as soon as they know it is go time watch out! The mare turns into a fire breathing dragon and is ready to rock and roll. The gelding is always laid back until I let him know it is time to go then he just turns on a switch and lays down a run. He walks in the arena as cool as a cucumber. He surprises everyone when he takes off...lol. |
