My daughter has a mare that was injured so she is on stall rest with hand walking and has been for the past 2 months or so. She doesn't want to feed her too much to make her hot since she isn't working her, but the mare has started losing weight.
What are some good fat sources that aren't a lot of sugar and carbohydrates to help put some weight on this horse? Anyone have any ideas?

My mare (also on stall rest) is getting 3-4 lbs of tribute kalm n ease orchard grass and some alfalfa hay. She is a chunk!!! I limited the alfalfa to 1 flake a day at first, when she was on a stricter regime. She is a pretty easy keeper.

I am having a dumb blonde moment.... Isn't beet pulp high in fiber not necessarily fat? I have heard of people using it for weight gain for a long time but never knew why
