So I'm looking to join a local riding club in my area. Middle TN to be specific. My friend, who has been teaching me as I've continued to learn with my 3 year old. WELL she's leaving the state!! I'm completely bummed out. So I think being part of an association that I can choose to participate in events when I'm confortable will be good for both myself and my gelding. My horse is no where near ready to start on barrels, still working on flying lead changes and broadening his expeirences,ect...
Anywho, I just think it would be nice to be part of a group or club. Even if I do nothing else but go to support other riders at the beginning, so I'll have people to access when I'm ready to actually dip my toes in the water as far as BRing goes.
There are tons and tons of places to ride in middle TN. There are tons of Saddle Club Associations around here that will pick up when summer starts, usually the first week of April or May and ride every weekend until Labor Day.
Once you're ready to step up, there are tons and tons of IBRA/NBHA/rodeos around too.
Feel free to PM me, I've lived here all my life and could help point you in a more specific direction if you want.
I know where you're located. Most everything in your area is going to be walking horse related. Triune has a decent little club to get started with though (I'd say it's about 35 minutes down 41 from 231). That's where I would start.

You're welcome to message me. I'm in middle TN as well. Manchester to be specific. If you're close to me there are a few saddle clubs around and local barrel races too. I'd be glad to help you out.
