Personally I like the Peppy San Badger or Holllywood Dun It lines. Have had horses bred both ways that were wicked little barrel horses. Have a mare now who is Hollywood Dun It on the top side and Lowry Star on the bottom that is a solid 1D horse at the big shows. Love a cow bred barrel horse! |

Location: CA | The mare in my avatar is by TR Dual Rey out of a daughter of Peptoboonsmal. With only about 15 competition runs under her belt she's already hitting the 1D when I stay out of her way and let her work. She hasn't even come close to reaching her full potential. I'd take another in a heartbeat. She's wicked quick.

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | Will be trying these two out with El Scorcho this year. The Hearts for Lena is so catty and has an amazing handle. The Pat Cowan mare is thin (we just bought her) but, she looks like she is going to be a tank and she is very quick on her feet.

This is a must watch video about TR Dual Rey that, if you love and admire cow horses, will definitely thrill you. What an amazing athlete! When I saw him on his knees in front of the cow, that's when I knew I wanted one of those. Don't have one yet, but someday.... Can't get any better than how yours is bred:)

| Here's video of my 5 year old all cow bred 14.1 hands lil package of dynamite. He is soooo turny but still has plenty of speed. Now if I can just get a clean run on him, lol.

He is Smart Little Lena, Peppy San Badger, Bob Acre Doc & Peptoboonsmal bred. My husband keeps trying to steal him for a heel horse.

| There are so many nice cowbreed and cowbreed/run crosses out there.
Im a huge cowbreed fan, i feel you cant go wrong with them. They are built and bred to be athletic, tuff and quick in accelerating and driving off, pretty good qualities for a barrel horse!!
Both my broodmares are by sons of peptoboonsmal and out of daughters of freckles playboy. The mare sides are very different and they are very different horses.
My favroite lines are (in no order) playgun, freckles playboy, peptoboonsmal or more specificAlly royal blue boon, CD oleana, Dual Rey, Gallo Del Cello, Remenic, Leana pretty much anything lol. I feel like im leaving out a ton, and i am because there are a ton of nice ones.
Ive never had one on barrels, just been around them cutting but some say the Cats are a bit sticky to run but there are so many out there runing so well I dont belive that statement but ive heard it from a couple people. |

I guess Doc Bar, Docs Adonis, the Chex line and lines that go to Hollywood Dun It (like same sire or something, I don't know cow lines enough so don't quote me)
Anyways, if I ever found another horse bred like my mare I'd snatch it up. She has the most honest work ethic ever! First one to greet you in the pasture, if she sees a halter she runs to you and tries to put it on, she gives more than her all, has the most heart I've ever seen in a horse and tries her hardest in everything! I'd take a million of her any day!
I also absolutely love her build! She's still growing wider all the time! And I think topped off at 15.3? Maybe 15.2

Location: Where I am happiest | Here is one of our cow bred mares. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/makin+rien This video was last fall at this assoc. year end finals. You nominate in your bracket at the beginning of the year and you are eligable for that bracket all year. No matter how much money they win over that. This was this filly's futurity year. She won the year end saddle for her bracket and this is the run that cinched it for her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rqciMTri1s

Location: Oklahoma | I have a coming 4 year old filly I bought in October who is by an own son of Highbrow Cat out of an own daughter of Dual Pep. I have never had a horse so easy to start on barrels. She is only about 14.1 or maybe 2 but catty quick. She has such a quick step around the barrels, I believe it will make up for what she will lack in speed on the straights. She is so fun to ride, I would take 5 more just like her. I cant wait to see what she will be this summer after she gets more consistant and confidant.

| I have a daughter out of Sophisticated Catt (High Brow Cat) and a great granddaughter of Smart Little Lena on her dams side. She is very quick...only 14.3 hands but she is smart! Not 5 yet and she is running really good. Also really quick on the poles. I had a farrier tell me is takes a very Intelligent person to ride a High Brow Cat horse....so I am kinda worried =)

| I had a very nice Smokin 45 daughter and out of a daughter of Smokum Oak. So double bred Mr. Gunsmoke. She was a cool mare, very tough on smaller patterns but could get hot when she was younger. |

Location: Home....Smiling M Farms | My stud is cow on run and I've been breeding him to straight running mares, so far I'm LOVING that babies I'm getting. He's adding hip, quick ability, low hocks, and a kind eye to everything. I'm crossing him on his first cow mares this year and I'm super stoked about them. They should make some awesome reining/working cow horses.
