| Since it's already March, I'm assuming alot of you guys are starting to get in shape for rodeo season. What is everyone doing and how is it coming along for you. My plan is:
1. 5-6 small meals a day, protein & low carb veggie
2. Walking, but now stepping up to 2 a days. Wlking 4 miles & tae bo
3. Stick to this monday thru friday
4. 100oz of water
Starting week 4 of this and so far I've lost 10lbs and definitely getting more cardiovascular fitness! |

Location: Desert Land | I have lost 11.1 lbs in 1 week. I'm not taking any magic potions or pills. Working out 1 hour a day 5 times a week with high intensity workouts and eating 6 small meals a day. 2 meals are a protein shake made by PPN and the others are Chicken, turkey, fish, buffalo, egg whites with a veggie and either yam or brown rice for carbs. Drinking 1 gallon of water a day. I am NOT hungry or starving myself either.
I am following a plan made by a local gym that puts on these challenges to lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks. If you do exactly what they tell you to do and not cheat, the weight just falls off. Today is the first week weigh in and they are having people that are losing 12, 15, 18 and even 20 lbs in the first week. |

Location: Who knows | A lot of the reason that people lose a lot of weight early on is due to
loss of water weight. If you are low carb or low calorie, it means you're body will be storing less glycogen in its muscles, and with it, less water. Then the weight loss will start to slow down.
I work out 3 days a week lifting weights, try to hit between 110-130 grams of protein, and fill in the rest of my calories with carbs and fat. I eat anywhere from 1200-2000 calories a day (it varies by day). I've been slowly leaning out while my weight fluctuates around the same number.
I try to ear meats and veggies for the most part, but I've been pretty bad lately about eating junk so my micronutrients probably areally not being met.
Sorry about the weird words. My phone insists on putting its own words in place of mine.

Location: Dearing, GA | I'm really struggling with my weight right now. I cut out sodas, fast food, a lot of bread carbs and have been eating a healthy breakfast every morning. I also started a high intensity kickboxing two to three times a week. However, it seems like I've gained weight. Even the scale says so. I'm mortified while I'm at kickboxing, as I'm the biggest person in there and can barely keep up with the exercises (its a group thing). The shot to my self esteem is really making me not want to go anymore.

Location: Missouri | So this year I am taking my fitness to a whole new level. Last year I lost 20 pounds and this year I want to do a bikini competition! My workouts are an hour kickboxing with cardio and weights mixed in followed by a very clean diet.
Breakfast 4am pre workout- 3 eggs whites with 1/2 cup processed oats with cinnamon and a tsp of vanilla extract made into pancakes with almond butter and honey "syrup" Tbsp of each
Snack 1 after my work out 7 am - protein shake, 15 almonds, and an apple
Lunch 10 am- 4 oz protein of choice, chicken, shrimp, turkey, or white fish, 1/2 brown rice or 3 oz sweet potato, cup lettuce with light balsamic, about 2 tsp.
Snack 2 1pm - piece of fruit and 4oz protein, same choices as above.
Snack 3 3 pm - 4 tbsp of greek yogurt, tbsp honey, cinnamon mixed together, and 2 hard boiled eggs.
Dinner 6 pm - same a lunch. 4oz protein of choice, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice or 3 oz sweet potato, 1 cup lettuce with light balsamic about 2 tsp.
I am never hungry and I am able to work out hard and ride horses. I do take a preworkout which keeps me pumped all day. |

Relax. You are doing great. Working out can cause inflammation, which causes water retention and therefor weight gain. Just keep doing what you're doing.
Also weight isn't so much of an issue as lbm vs fat mass. You can be lean and still weigh a good chunk. Don't focus solely on scale weight.

^^^Exactly! I gain weight when I work out too but my jeans fit better and I firm up all over. Don't worry what the scale says...notice the physical changes in your body and keep doing what you're doing. Don't get discouraged at your kickboxing class...you're already kicking butt over all the girls at home on the couch so way to go! If you just started your body will take a while to get comfortable but stick with it and see how awesome and strong and fit your body becomes after 6 months! |

| I hit the gym at least 5 days a week. I do at least an hour of cardio...elip or treadmill(I prefer the elip because it is easier on my joints and I actually burn more calories on it than the treadmill) and do weight training I also have an elliptical at my home. I am on a 1500 calorie diet and I eat healthy I only drink water and lots of it. I have lost 20 pounds but really don't stress much over my weight. My clothes fit better and I am in really good shape! I have lots of endurance and air! I will soon be 52 so I feel I am doing pretty good! Good luck to everybody!

Location: Kansas | I haven't had a soda pop in two years, and quit drinking energy drinks a couple weeks ago, plus I'm attempting to eat mostly healthy foods. My biggest downfall is Cheez-It crackers while I work on homework for my online classes, and I also have a weakness for chewy sweet tarts and laffy taffy. I did a 30-day ab & squat challenge in February (skipped some rest days to get it all in between 2/2 and 3/1) and am doing the March Madness Challenge now with burpees, squats and push ups. My legs now hate me LOL. My goal is just to get fitter, stronger and leaner for the summer rodeo season. I can't even find my scale so have no idea if I've lost weight. I just want to be able to keep up with my horses this year and if I lose weight & inches in the process, that's a bonus. |

Location: SE Missouri | I'm on the diet/lifestyle change journey. I had a breast reduction in December and did a round of Chirothin that started December 31. I'm down 20+# and feel so much better. I'm going to start round two this weekend (two days of loading=misery). It is a STRICT diet, at least 80 (prefer 120oz) water every day, and an amino acid supplement (not the HCG formula).. No grain, no dairy, no sugary stuff, no startchy vegetables, and portion control. Never thought I'd be able to stick with something like this but actually it's been the best program I have done. The crappy part is that you realize what a pedestal you have put food on in your life. It's a wake up call for sure. I needed it..
After round two I will add exercise/strength training. Carrying muscle (under all these fluff) has never been a problem, lol. I will be looking forward to being in the 2nd best shape of my life, lol.. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I SUCK at dieting! Suck at it big time. The good thing is I know this about myself so I do much better with exercising first, which tends to help me shed a little and then it is easier for me to make better food choices. Right now I'm sitting at 142lbs, I used to be 5'8" but I think I've shrunk. 5 years ago I kept it at 135 most of the time. My goal is to drop 10lbs, we have been walking in the creek and I've been doing core work out with my niece at her gymnastic practices. I would like to make sure my core is strong enough to help me get up and leave the barrel with my mare this spring, it'll be a challenge, she is feeling good without those bladder stones and minus a few kidney stones to boot!!! I owe it to her to give her a great ride from here on out! |

Location: TN | I started my weight loss journey this year as well. Year after year I've tried and given up on getting in shape/losing weight. I'd stick with it for a couple months and then just quit. I told myself this year was going to be different. I made myself a set of goals ( I had 4 - not all weight loss related), wrote them down, and put them where I could see them everyday. I'm happy to say that its only March and I've already accomplished 2 of them!!! I've lost 13lbs since January 1. This is the best results I've ever had losing weight. I've tried low carb, Atkins, South Beach, etc, etc, and I always felt like I was starving by the end of the day. I knew if I did that again I'd never stick with it (I LOVE to eat!! lol). So I decided that if I was going to be able to lose the weight and keep it off, I'd have to make a LIFESTYLE change not a DIET. My routine is very very simple. I usually have fruit for breakfast (I eat in the car, I have a 35-40 commute to work everyday). Then some kind of snack around 9-10 am. (this is usually my SMALL 'cheat' snack of the day. Nothing over 150 calories though.) I eat a veggie/protein packed lunch that's 450 calories or less. I drink a V8 or another fruit around 2-3 pm then I try to eat a supper that's 450 calories or less. I try to eat at least 2 hrs before bedtime if I can. I also go to the gym 5-6 days a week for about an hr and a half. My routine there varies, but I do 30-35 min cardio, abs, rotate either arms or legs that day, then another 10-15 min of cardio at the end.
I wanted to also add that I use the MyFitnessPal app on my phone. I have mine set to a 1300 calorie a day plan. It works kinda like weight watchers, the more calories you burn, the more you can eat. Its been a very essential tool for me. I'm in better shape even after only 2 months than I've been in years!! Good luck to you all, set your mind to what you want and don't look back!! |

Sounds very similar to the 6 week body makeover that Michael Thurmon designed. My friend has lost a total of 100lbs doing that. Minus a bunch of working out. I'm doing something similar but no starches cause I'm UBER sensitive to them. I'm anxious to see if i have a loss when I way in on Friday. |

| You'd be AMAZED at what can happen when you cut out refined foods/carbs!! Do not eat any carbs after lunch either. HIT THE GYM TOO. Many people think time in the barn riding is enough exercise, it's not! 70% of it comes from the kitchen, the 30% comes from exercise. Find your BMR (how many calories your body needs a day to survive)(they have calculators online, I used 3 different ones and then averaged it) to find how many calories you need to be cutting. My BMR is around 2000-2100, I cut my calorie intake to 1000-1200 (which is on the lower side) per day with at least 20min of cardio along with weights, abs, and squats. I gained 11 lbs recently, and lost 4. Still need to lose the rest, which may not seem like a huge deal (5'11 & 142lbs) but I am excited to see changes! Biggest key factor is watch what you eat. I've dealt with major binge eating as I'd eat super low cals and it would throw my hormones out of whack and cause me to go nuts over food. I've been better about the quality of food and mental strength lately and it's been working! Do it for your horse!
REMEMBER THIS IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT PROCESS. It will take weeks/months to see results! Once you start seeing results it's almost euphoric.
THE HARDEST PART ABOUT EXERCISING IS GETTING YOUR SELF TO GO. THE EASY PART IS THE EXERCISE. Yes, even though you say you do not have time for at least 15-20min, you DO have time. I have tried to use this excuse as well

Location: North Dakota | One thing with this diet packet I got emailed is that it doesn't have very many vegetarian options for protein. The only options were egg (egg subsitute) or low-fat cottage cheese. I am not a vegetarion but we eat very little meat mostly chicken breasts unless we go out to eat then we might splurge for a steak. Anyways would beans be bad for this diet? I also noticed avocados and not many fruits were on the list. I love avocados and they are super healthy so why would they be excluded from this diet? |

What is Couch - 5 K???
It's a program that starts you off slow and progressively works you towards running a 5k.
And I am LOVING it!! Running has never been my thing, decided that it's just too effective of a workout to skip out on it any longer. Downloaded C25K Free app on my iPhone, today, for the first time, my legs weren't burning. I was SO proud of myself! I really enjoyed my workout and felt energized and ready to do more. C25K has me running three days out of 7. I really am enthusiastic about it! I try to walk a mile between days.
I also do 3-4 sets of 25 jumping jacks, 3-4 sets of squats (no weights, not yet, legs still too weak), and 3-4 sets of form conscious sit ups everyday.
I recommend to anyone! |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | I haven't seen anyone mention Crossfit yet? I started back in my box (local Crossfit gym) this week, Ive been everyday this week ao far, some morning and some evening sessions. I had to quit for 3 months due to a bad shoulder injury from softball and I gained a ton of weight because I was eating so much and not working out.
Cross fit has been the best work out for me, I was doing the same old things over and over at my gym and I needed something new. It's definently the most intense workouts I've ever done but it's so worth it! It's only an hour everyday and you can go twice a day. You get very sore the first couple of weeks then your body gets used to it all.
After work I hit cross fit then I've been riding, I'm excited to see the changes in my body in the next few months |

I decided to try a natural supplement to help with my stomach issues and it actually helped me lose over 10 pounds. So now I'm able to work out 3x a week without getting too fatigued to quit. Plus my terrible stomach issues are completely gone. Some people just need a little extra boost to help them achieve their goal. Wish all of you ladies the best of luck. Seems like it took me forever to find my right combination. |

Don't ever deny yourself, or else you'll end up on a binge. If you want a piece, have a piece. Go to a place where you can buy it by the slice, that way you can enjoy one or two slices without the temptation of scarfing down a whole pizza. Pizza in and of itself isn't bad, it's just overeating that is. As long as you eat a variety of nutritious foods, say about 80% of your daily diet, then that other 20% can be put towards treats that may be lacking in nutrients.
And if you don't do so well one, day, don't beat yourself up about it. Just get back on the horse and keep riding, so to speak. |
