in Luke's account of this temptation , the devils says, " I will give you the authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. Luke 4:6. The inhabited world has been given over to Satan, an idea reflected in various New Testament passages about Satan as prince of this world Colossians 1:13, Ephesians 2:2 and others. Jesus did not accept this " gift" ; he says elsewhere , " Now is the time for judgement on this world; now the prince of the world will be driven out. John 12:31 Since " the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devils work 1 John 3:8 there be no compromising with the devil.
The devil stand for everything that opposes God and will not bow down to him. Here he offers Jesus a choice: Go your appointed way and continue to serve God or break free from him and have the whole world at your disposal... But the price of bowing down to the devil. The choice is almost laughable....serving God or serving the devil. Jesus came to save the world, so here is the devils greatest temptation: Save it by ruling as a benevolent dictator. in yielding to this temptation , Jesus would have not have been the Christ, but the Beast of Revelation.
Change the world by becoming like the world. Defeat evil by compromising with it. When the devil had finished all this tempting , he left him an opportune time Luke 4:13 Satan is not completely done with Jesus. they would meet again. But for now , at the beginning of his ministry , Jesus has passed a great test. he was the obedient Son of God. he had done what Adam failed to do, withstood temptation.
As a growing Chrisitan the message today spoke to my heart. Am I living for the world temporally or am I living for Jesus for eternity
I CHOOSE JESUS FOR ETERNITY!
Father God, guide me today to do all things to resist temptation of this world, help me to do all things that bring glory and honor to You always AMEN

Yes we are living in a world controled by Satan so to speak. He is doing everything possible to ruin God's plan for us. We have to live by faith. We are in this world but we should not be of this world.Thanks LJ
