What are some things you do to mix things up during the week while legging up and working your finished horses?

I rarely work the pattern and I don't have an arena available. Since the field beside my house has been resting for the past few months I've been using it to long trot and breeze a little.

I've been thinking about trot poles and cones and some other things just to keep things fresh and new. Does anyone use trot poles and how/what do you use??

I do a lot of gymnastic work with ground poles. It keeps them mentally engaged and also does wonders for the topline muscles. You can just do a google/youtube search for different set ups and measurements.

That was my first idea. Keep his mind fresh AND build some top line.

I've used ground poles and regular poles, traffic cones. Trail riding is always great. Teach them something new. I'm working with more bareback exercises, roping and will eventually go towards some mounted archery stuff. I've done jumping in the past or even polo. It's great to keep their feet AND mind moving.
