I have a big headed trail/ranch horse and need to find a bit wide enough.. I see these are 5.75" wide. are they really that wide? anyone using them? I was looking at the non gag snaffle one....

svincent - 2015-03-07 3:23 AM They are definitely not that wide. The shanks are 6.75 inches long. Did you maybe mix the two up? They are a standard width mouth piece.
i don't think i mixed it up - here's what it says?:
This fixed cheek leverage bit is well suited for a finished horse. This shank creates lateral flexion and provides hip control which allows the horse to maintain balance while keeping their shoulders elevated during turns.
The traditional snaffle has a slightly curved mouthpiece so it is easy for a horse to carry and is more comfortable. This mouthpiece will apply even pressure to the corners of a horse’s mouth.
