I have not been on in a while. Truth is I lost about 95% of my drive to even try with the horses anymore.
I got this wild idea beginning of this week to try a local jackpot this weekend. I made sure my mare and gelding got exercise everyday. Saturday they both rode like champs. Today, my gelding made a big advance in his training. My mare, of whom I have had her entire life made the best run of her life today. I came out of the arena in tears.
2 days before the race, while I'm on my last leg about to throw my toys in the dirt I had someone tell me sometimes you just need to admit failure. Today was exactly what I needed. We didn't place but we were in the top 10. I'm so proud of my girl.

Yea!!! For both horses and you. How fast I run or where I place isn't as big of deal as it used to be but gee golly wow... if I leave the arena with a smile on my face.... I've won big. Here's to more 'tears leaving the arena' in your future!

That's so great! That's exactly why i never go into that alley hoping to place in a certain spot or win a certain amount. I go in there hoping for a good clean run and for me and my horse to work to the best of our ability and to come out just as safe and sound as we went in. If i happen to place well or win anything, that's just a bonus.
I too had lost my drive to ride. I got pregnant with my twins in march 2013. Haven't hardly swung a leg over a horse or wanted to go out to the barn since then after being so worn out taking care of the kids. They are now 15 months old and I finally got that drive back and last weekend came across my dream horse. I pretty much stole him from the girl that raised and started him she gave me such a heck of a deal on him. I cruised him through saturday evening (he's only 7 and not ready to be pushed yet). Just with him easy loping the pattern, i was blown away!! My patterns were ugly because I have never ridden a horse with such power but i know just as soon as i get with him we will go far. That little confidence boost right there is just what we need to keep pushing forward!!!! Thanks for letting me get my excitement out there for myself while congratulating you lol
