Our mare was really sore in the flank area and the vet said it can happen this time of year and to try and run her on 750# of banamine and see if she gets through it. We did that and she seemed to get better but last weekend was REALLY sore again so we made an appointment for this week.

My questions...

Is a sonogram enough?

What specifics should we ask?

Can hanging follicles be seen on sono?

The vet is a hour drive for me which involves me taking a day off work so I want to get this taken care of in as few trips as possible.

Thanks

my mare had a huge follicle on her ovary.. vet palpated her and felt it but ultrasound confirmed it so maybe thats all you need ..if your mare is that sore Id ultrasound.. first.
