Has anyone with geldings ever experienced a kidney infection? My gelding is really not feeling well. I had the vet out last night and he had a couple large beans and we thought that was why he couldn't urinate right and why he acted that he was really hurting. But this morning he is still acting the same and straining to go, and his urine is really dark. Vet is coming out to draw blood and see if that will tell us anything. Just wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen?

Are you sure he didnt tye up? They will pee really dark when they tye up as the kidneys are flushing all those toxins. Or maybe it is his kidneys without a tye up. Silver Lining kidney cleans is a great product. I have had really good results wit it. h

I agree I've had great results with silver lining kidney especially on those horses that tie up. I've never had one with a kidney infection, but I know that tying up is directly related to their kidneys. I would call silver lining /Mickey young and see what he recommends too, he def helped our horse. Also if their kidneys are bothering them ( and I don't know what type of feed you are feeding) but I have found that whole oats or any starchy feed or anything high in sugar, corn, molasses, have caused our horse to tie up more frequently....so be careful there. We have him on renew gold and alfalfa pellets (just a thought) again I don't know what you are feeding. Good luck!
Have a mare with Kidney stones... First ultra sound have us little to no hope. Put her on Equine Natural Care herbs and the second ultra sound 6 months later gave us a lot of hope, enough so the vets agreed to do the surgery to remove the bladder stone she also had....
