I realize it is probably on a case by case basis, and each case is different, but in general at these big futurities, side pots, etc., what do these riders typically get paid? I'm sure the horses are often in training as well, but I am curious what the percentages would be on average.
The owners must also pay all of their travel expenses? Are the miles on their vehicles just part of the business? There are many people hauling multiple horses, so I'm assuming they just split it.

The people who ride the horses at futurities have been riding those horses for at least a year before the futurity. I think it is customary for the owner to pay the entry fees, stalls and parking fees as well as mileage to get to the event. My trainer said 50/50 on the winnings. I assume that expenses are taken out before the 50/50 split.

Owner pays all the entry-stall fees and if money is won- split after fees are taken out. I wasn't charged any day fees or care fees. That was covered in training fees tho.
