I have a high wither horse, the only saddle that fits him good is my husband Courts Roping Saddle that he won in 1983, it weighs 45lbs. tough for me to get it on to run barrels. I talked to Courts Saddles, he said it was made on old #53 tree with semi quarter bars, 7' gullet. So today I found a Billy Cook saddle used, but in good condition, 7' gullet, ok, here's what it feels like, I feel the saddle touching him everywhere, not so much at the very back, feels snugs at his shoulders, the question what is the correct saddle fit?, I get so confused how a saddle correctly fits.   This article has some of the basics. You do NOT want the saddle to be tight in the front. http://thefreedomsaddle.com/articles/saddle-fitting/checking-your-s...
