Location: Texas | I'm not a big fan of the fringe, just doesn't really belong on tack, IMO. But, I definitely dig the beaded and painted tack! I bought some custom dyed cinches that are very pretty, even though most folks aren't crawling under my horses... |

| I can't stand the feathers and there are only some fringe sets that I like. I think that Fallon Taylor is bringing in the tie dye pretty rapidly even some of her outfits look like a colorblind 4 year old dressed her. I have to admire her attitude though! |

| I guess I am old fashioned. I like a classic leather bridle and breast collar with maybe a couple of accent conches on them. Now don't get me wrong, I love bling and all of the sparkle and color of painted tack, but I just never bought into it I guess. JMO |

I am as well....saw a gal made a tack set with painted feathers that hung off the breastcollar like fringe. that was pretty neat...but I wouldn't use it lol. |

I love bling as much as anyone but, some of it is a little much for my personal preference.
On a side note, I'm getting "auto-corrected" for the word, "bling" is this really not a word? |

I'm just really not into beading for my horses. I love it on hatbands and bracelets and what not, but not so much for my tack.
And... my current favorite trend... COPPER!! My new saddle has copper dots along the border, copper stirrups, conchos, buckles... etc. |

Location: North Dakota | Hopefully matching will be in style. You don't need to be fancy or blingy but when EVERYTHING people own is different colors, my matching senses start tingling and it drives me nuts. I'm into black. In some ways I hope it catches on so I have more options, but in some ways I don't because I want to be the only one with the black stuff. Love the tie dye as well. Always have always will. Buckstitching is the ugliest thing ever. Can not WAIT for that to go away.

Location: North Dakota | I do not care for fringe at all. I like more classy looks...nice quality leather, buckstitching, nice conchos with maybe a little turquoise. I like a little bling as long as it is classy and not gawdy. Some stuff is just way too overdone. I think buckstich is coming back around which kind of makes me sad since soon it will be overdone as well and I will have to look for something else before it gets caught up in a fad...lol. |

Location: NC | I love all of my beaded stuff. I had a full set made in honor of my Mom. It turned into an "in memory" in the process.
I have a bronc halter, over/under, spur straps and stirrup hobbles that are all beaded inlay with buckstitch. My friend made all of it and I LOVE her work. It's fantastic.
I am not a fan of the fringe. ESPECIALLY on a head stall or halter. Just NO. And the angora is hideous too. Can't stand it. Looks like one of those little ugly yappy dogs got glued onto a breast collar.
Here are some photos of my tack set.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | I don't like seeing all the fringe on all the tack... I like it when they are standing still or in a parade or something but...
How can I put this... The horses look so... weighted down... Does that make sense? LOL
For exmple... Baby Flo in this pic looks like there is so much weight everywhere with all of the mess going on... Just my opinion... (And no i'm not saying weighted down in reference to the riders weight so no flames, talking about tack lol)
Whereas Louie looks like he is breezing through the pattern and isn't hindered by Lisa's tack choice. BUT Her tack is still tasteful.
I guess I'm old fashioned too...
I know it has nothing to do with it but at the same time, I don't like seeing it in action. Just on the shelf or standing still

Location: Oklahoma | There is lots of stuff I like, but when it comes down to it I'm plain. Coming from a hunter/equitation background, the ONLY acceptable colors we were allowed were black, white, navy, hunter. I do have 2 Rodeo Drive Conchos but that's the extent of my rebelness. I have black stingray with antique conchos.

Location: wherever my gypsy soul lands | I've never understood spending $500+ on a tack set! It's outrageous. I like good quality leather tack. I ride a lot of horses and want something that is going to stand up to the trials of time and young horses. I'd rather spend my money on my horse. Same with boots for my horses, the colors are great and all but give me black or white any day. |

But I see the younger girls sporting the more colorful tack so far.
For me I don't like it over the top. Saddles I keep very basic because I don't have the resources to have multiples, so I go a little on the crazy side for stuff like headstalls, tie downs and breast collars.
Where I go really flamboyant (sp) are my polos. Those are cheap so why the heck not! LOL!!!

I'm addicted to the beading. It's so pretty and classy yet you can make it very unique to suit any taste. And the buckstitch just makes it pop. I was surprised how white the white has managed to stay. I love it.

| I would really love to see the hand carved tack come back into style. I have a set from Heritage that is 100% hand carved with antique copper spots and plain, copper conchos. It just looks so class. But, I also have another set that is white croc with silver studs and clear crystal conchos. It is still classy looking, not over the top in any way.
In my opinion, people have over the top, flashy, fringy tack to distract from their runs. They don't want people watching them make a run, so they distract with the crazy tack and clothing choices.
I really am into the solid color shirts with classy, clean looking tack. You don't need over the top to look cool. |

I want to order new conchos for my new to me saddle I just bought and I want to see what the copper ones look like on a saddle. Thanks! I will get pictures taken as soon it arrives!! I'm getting so excited now! They told me eight weeks five weeks ago... so I'm hoping just three more to go!!
Here are some pictures from my Pinterest board I used to keeping track of details:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/495536765223735885/
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/495536765223735861/
Thank you! I like the copper a lot! I love the looks of the first saddle! One of my first pleasure saddles had buck stitching on it. Loved that saddle and someone stole it. my buckstitch saddle got stolen too! I really like the buckstitch saddle in the first pic
I ordered a 2" hot brand to brand my new saddle with! Might not really deter someone from stealing it, but maybe they'll think twice!
I contacted my dealer today and Double J told him they were shipping it tomorrow!!! So hopefully I'll have pictures sooner than later! |

| IRunOnFaith - 2015-03-17 12:21 PM I don't like seeing all the fringe on all the tack...
Just on the shelf or standing still That is the same way people look when wearing fringe... weighted down, bulky, thick, unflattering, messy, and so on. If a person wants to look bigger than she really is, then fringe will do the trick.

Here are some photos of my tack set. thank you

Knew a guy stat stripped every thing off a saddle to make it lighter, even the horn. So i figure there are folks who take it to the extreme both ways |

| I'm starting to like the looks of fringe on some things, but it really depends. I love bling, but I have my capri blue gear right now. Fringe would make my tank of a mare look even bigger, and she already looks really weighed down. haha I got this tack set at Josey Ranch, really nice set that isn't overly blingy.

I love that buck stitching is getting popular. I think it's a flashy, but subtle way to show color... especially when paired against dark tack.
I agree with this but I think it would be pretty cool of they did colored buck stitching, like teal against black leather or black stitching on a light oiled leather saddle!

I prefer to blend into the dirt i don't like people watching me.. LOL I have seen some BEAUTIFUL tack sets but I have way better things to do with $500+ like shoes, feed, vet, ect then buy a few articles of tack, so its best nothing comes along I like that much |

My bronc halter I had made is a beaded inlay with turquoise buckstitch around the edges.
Same gal made my tack set with the white buckstitch. She's very good at it and carries several colors.

Everything goes in circles so I really don't look at things as being fads as more as being in style. I've never liked fringe whether it be on a horse or on a shirt. We all have individual likes and dislikes. It's what makes the world go round.
I second this.... As a custom tack maker I've realized you can't make everyone happy. That's why you build up a following and those people are going to like your stuff and the others may not. I just had a customer design her own set and when I posted it, it received more likes then anything I've posted. BUT just yesterday it was posted on this "tacky tack page". Which I could take offense to but guess what the customer LOVED it so that's all that matters. It's not something I would personally choose to offer as it is OUT THERE, but she wanted it. That's why I have a love hate relationship with custom orders. But as long as the customer is happy, everyone is happy! |

| Honesty, I like the plain and simple leather with some color accents and maybe a inlaid pattern here and there. The feathers are kind of stupid to me, on horse tack. I own feather earrings, and after only a few uses, they start looking pretty rough. I can only imagine how they start looking on tack. You'd have to replace them 3-4 times a year! I would never pay money for something like that.
My guess for the new fad is people are going to start shaving patterns on their horses rumps... I've already seen a couple around here. They're pretty. I kind of like it, lol but if did it, I'll probably just finger paint it on my boy. |

Location: South Dakota | My fear is that the next fad will be minimalist (I think that is a word) and we'll all be sitting there with our blingy tack. The kids will roll their eyes at the blingy tack like they do when they see pictures of clothes and hairstyles of the 80's--which I still love by the way, lol!

Location: Way up North | I don't think bling will ever go away, I think it is becoming slightly less popular but it won't go away, it will just be done in a different way. Everybody wants to be different so that's why we see 'fads'. People start doing it until it gets so over done it becomes mainstream and then we are on to the next big thing.
Feathers, tribal, aztec, skulls, hand tooled/painted, black leather, cooper; those seem to be the things really poping up on tack, saddles, even clothing. I'm seeing less inlays and super blinged stuff than a few years ago but there are still plenty of those out there. I think there is a transition from 'show' type tack to more good using stuff with flair. |

Her owner is hoping to breed her next year, I just love her to bits. She's a great mare. Not flashy bloodlines or anything, but a nice work ethic and beautiful conformation. She wins performance halter classes all the time. |
