Can I get opinions on RS Custom Saddlery barrel saddles? I've been having a heck of a time trying to find a saddle to fit my horse. I rode in one of these tonight and it seemed to fit well for both her and I. Already checked out their website and the one that fit her was $850. Seems like it's too good to be true for a saddle that will hold up well. I believe that you get what you pay for when it comes to saddles. Can anyone suggest other brands that fit a horse like these? I am also debating on demo-ing a Marlene McRae. I had one in the past that fit my gelding who had a similar build as my current mare does.
I have had many of them and I literally put them through H*LL and back. They are a good saddle for the money just each of mine lasted about 7 years and then they started looking alittle rough. But all and all I was very happy with them.
I've had 2, a trainer and a barrel saddle. Both held up well and I felt like I got a fair price for them when I sold them (didn't ride the trainer anymore and the barrel saddle didn't fit my horse right, nothing against them). I think they are a great option for the money.
As far as custom options you'd have to call and ask, I know they added a rear cinch for a friend of mine but that's not really custom per se. They are great to work with though so just call the store and ask :-)
I have 3!! 2 barrel and a roper. I ABSOLUTELY love mine. My first barrel saddle I got about 10 years ago, brand new. The other two I have bought used within the last 4 years. The roper has roped horses and bulls. I am not sure about the custom work, but they are really nice if you call them!
