for a safe race and a win. I love seeing a horse that has his race record still out there racing. And he is always a contender. For the THE customers, you might like to know that California Chrome (Dubai World Cup-G1 $10,000,000), Big Macher/Secret Circle/ (running in the Dubai Golden Shaheen-G1 $2,000,000) and Distinctiv Passion (Al Quoz Sprint-G1 $1,000,000) are all on THE.

and on another note (apparently I am in the wrong event) look at this barn from over there!

I wonder what their houses look like? I'm the type that would live in a shanty (a clean shanty) and put all my money into a super fancy barn. I spend most of my time out in the barn anyways.

I bet they have fantastic  "swimming pools"  for those horses in that barn. ha ha

I have a cousin who goes to dubai with her BF/ fiance', I was invited to go. Even told they treat women with blonde hair and blue eyes like goddesses. I refused.. lol those kind people are the ones that get kidnapped.

BUUUT everything is ostentaciously  beautiful over there.

Fact of the matter is though that those horses in those fancy barns would be much happier with a little ole Kansas pasture.  Not many pastures in the desert I would imagine.

I was thinking the same thing. I want the barn here in the states, but my horses are always in pasture for the most part. Hey at least that way I won't dirty up those pretty stalls and walkways.

It is absolutely amazing over there.  Although I have not been to the World Cup, I have been to the races. Hubby has been to the World Cup...I was treated very well and was never in fear or felt like I was in any kind of danger.

We had some customers that had a barn like the first one posted and didn't own a horse worth feeding.

Good Luck to California Chrome!

Yeah I'm not a very trusting person. When we went to south TX after horses I was packing. Don't think I will visit a country that I can't still get a little western.

And why would you say that? The UAE is a very safe country.  Their is virtually no crime there.

It's totally different than the tracks here in the US.  When we run a 6 furlong TB race we go around 1 turn.  When they run, the tracks are so big, they run down the straight away.  And the gates are set on the outside fence.  Very different. But a beautiful country, especially in Dubai

Lots of travel and changes in conditions and atmosphere for a horse.  I remember when Cigar won it.  What a horse he was.

How cool is that

After reading about Art Sherman's lack of enthusiasim in regards to Chrome running at the Ascot...I am having 2nd thoughts also as to is this a good idea. Art states it is too much for the horse, and asking alot of him....Chrome will have to learn to run the other direction on the track, as in England it is a whole different kind of deal...I respect Art as a horseman, so I wonder if the owners are really thinking of Chrome's best interests.

Really? I had no clue they ran the other direction!! Those silly Euros!

Prince Bishop was my pick and once again they(owners) keep asking to much of CC.  Shared Belief kicked his arss and he was spent going into to this world cup, now lets ask him to leave everything he knows and learn how to run in deep turf and lets go downhill and the other way.

I am waiting for the other boot to fall.....will not be shocked if he is sold because the partnership is living up to their stable name and I see them self imploding soon.

I agree. I think it will  be too much and you can see his results are up and down because of his being tired.

As much as I have enjoyed watching this horse, I can't help but to agree with you on this. Seems like they have enjoyed running him too and might not want to quit just yet. With as much money as they have won with I him they could go buy a few more to play with.

I agree. Going to the Ascot is insane.

CC has run three times since the last of November-the Hollywood Derby on turf, once in February and now in Dubai. The CC owners have chosen his next race to be in England the middle of June. They aren't running him into the ground and he has shown he can handle plane trips. I don't remember people bashing the owners of Animal Kingdom when they chose to send him to Ascot after Dubai. CC has become a fan favorite and people want to see him race. In past years I remember people griping about horses being retired sound after their three year old season to go to stud-the public's desire to see their favorites continue their racing career was ignored. How can the average person develop an interest in horse racing when the fan favorite is only around for a year or so? If CC had soundness issues, didn't travel well or was showing signs of being soured on racing i would look at things differently. CC seems to relish racing and runs better and better when raced more frequently. Look what he did in the run up to and including the Classics. Can CC handle the clockwise turns-he'll have plenty of time to adjust. Can he handle the undulating track and softer turf-no one knows that answer. Fields are normally much larger in Europe than in the U.S. CC showed in the Kentucky Derby he wasn't intimidated by a large field. Good luck to CC in his world travels.

I kind of agree with this. The horse always looks tip top. I wouldn't say they are doing it for greed. Not saying it is the best decision for the horse either, but I am not his trainer, groom nor rider. Who am I to judge what they do with this horse. As long as he is sound, I love to see him race.

Animal Kingdom had 2 years in-between his triple crown bid then after he was sidelined due to injury he came back to run at the Dubai Cup.
Hey listen I love a horse that is on the track more than 4 years, there was a reason I was on Prince Bishop, 8 years old and still running, but he is a gelding, I would expect nothing else.  I am also a huge fan and think the best horse we have going right now in the USA is Shared Belief also a gelding and with proper racing management we should see him for a few more years, just like Wise Dan has done, also a gelding.  I was a huge CC fan until the owners started believing they knew better than the trainer.  I wish CC the best, I wanted him back in the USA so Shared Belief could kick his a ss a few more times, but hey CC owners are looking to change history and that can work both ways.  If CC doesn't make the cut over there all it does is lower his value as a standing stallion, when seriously he had nothing left to prove here.

Managing a career is slippery slope, I do not understand the venue they are chosing.
But in the mean time here in the USA we shall be looking forward to our next triple crown hopeful and the Breeder's Cup.

CC who? Really? I can name a good dozen previous Triple Crown horses, ones that won 1 or 2 of the past races. I really doubt CC will be so easily forgotten. I'm a positive person. I wish him and his connections the best in whatever they do.

I am so not getting my point understood. WE horse people, T/B fans will always know CC, the general public will forget.

Do I need to say again I was a huge fan of CC?

they are not listening to their trainer at all.... he is going to have to be compleatly re trained to handle ascot.. why do that to the  horse? i mean his value as a stud really isnt there.. i dont care how much he has won or what he has won.. id be suprised if he doesnt get seriously injured in england jmo

This ^^.  The trainer knows the horse better than anyone except maybe his groom.  If the trainer thinks they're asking too much of him, then he's seeing signs from CC that it's getting to be too much.

Well because none of us here are able to have a say in what happens with CC, I will hope him the best. That is about all we can do in whatever they decide with him.

Congratulations to California Chrome for a fantastic 2nd place finish in the G-1 Dubai World Cup ($10,000,000) and his trainer Art Sherman.

and also a big Congratulations to Secret Circle and trainer Bob Baffert for his first place win in the Dubai Golden Shaheen G-1 ($2,000,000). THE was well represented at the races.
