I am going to be having a saddle made to fit my mare (as soon as I have the $$, almost there). But in the mean time I am borrowing a saddle. I took some pictures to try and show an accurate fit. When I took it off yesterday she had two dry spots on her withers but I also think I had the saddle placed too far forward. I'd just like some opinions on fit and if there is no helping it i just wait untill my saddle is made.

By looking at the pictures I would say the saddle doesn't fit, as it is not sitting on the back evenly (the picture from the back)

As for the saddle placement, that saddle should be placed on the shoulder as per the rigging, so I think you have it in the right place.

I would say the angle of the bars is too small

What you should be feeling underneath the saddle is even pressure all the way

I am NO saddle fitting expert but without a pad it looks like the gullet is okay but with a pad it will be too narrow. What bothers me is the length of the skirt from the cantle, it appears to be way to long, the saddle is hitting just in front of the hip, I'm wondering if this isn't adding to the problem. You might want to look for something with a smaller skirt and/or a round one, along with something with a wider gullet.

Thank you for the info!

I think I am just going to give this back to my sister and wait untill mine is made. My mare has been really hard to fit.
