I use mine (cenataur brand-can't find them anymore) before and after. Before I feel like the horses warm up a little easier and after relax sooner. I have known problems in one horse so he gets them before and one that is younger that I would like to be less anxious so he gets them a little before or after. Most of the time at least 15 minutes if possible but at least a half hour for the one that has the known hock issue.

I try and put my PHT's on the night before with no bows and standing wraps to keep them up.
I will say my gelding has been working super at races after wearing them by has started showing some signs of soreness during regular weekly work. He's getting injected this week, but I have to say I think my PHT's are why he's working better at races after wearing them.
