So I've decided to breed one the mares and she is also my back up barrel horse second to my gelding. How far doe she have to be before I can haul her? Over 30days? She is an awesome 19/20 sec pole horse so I would love to use her as much as I can. She's the kind of horse that you just keep her hands up and tap with a crop but never kick and you'll have a check. Any thoughts or experience?

I have a broodmare and I have my barrel mare. If I decided to breed my barrel mare, she won't do anything else. Breeding is too expensive to risk running them like that. That's just IMO.

Agreed ^^^^ let her be a broodmare or compete on her not both. Breeding is VERY expensive to risk it !!!

I agree...once my mares are bred they dont go anywhere.....being a mom is stressful enough as well as expensive...so i would never take that chance. .....M

In some contracts, riding the mare during pregnancy will void your LFG

I wouldn't ride her, not while being bred... Like others said, it is not cheap, and I wouldn't want to add to the stress that it can put on the mare. And you say she is your second back up... just give her the time to be a mommy. And also, like already mentioned it might void the LFG...
