In the past I had a vet recamend 1tube of gastrogard divided evenly for 3days continued for 28 days. Now I have a different vet recamend 1 full tube a day for 28 days.
What have y'all done?? I don't want to be using more than necessary but want to heal him up!!
I give 1/4 tube every day for 28 days as recommended by my vet... Within four days the symptoms have subsided and haven't had any issues with it not being enough medicine to fix the problem.
Full tube! Also, Ulcergard is exactly the same thing, by the same company, same formulation, and costs a little less. You just give a full tube for at least 15 days. If the ulcers are really terrible (ie bleeding, horse in bad bad shape), then go for 28 days.
valleyvet.com usually has really good deals on Ulcergard.

I did what was recommended - 28 days - full tube dosage - no skimping to get the job done right the first time. Than check to have them taper off so they don't get an acid rebound effect. Talk to your vet about this. Also if you purchase all at one, Merial will reinburse you I think $5.00 per tube? I got a check within 2 weeks after I sent in for a rebate.
During and after treatment I would start her on Oxy Max which is a front and hind gut ulcer preventative so after your treatment is done she will no longer need a maintenance dose. I love Oxy Max. Message me if you have any questions about my experience with it. I read a study saying that the term effects of omeprazole have shown brittle bones etc...
