We have a gelding that is 5, it has never been handled much at all. It is not mean, seams willing but is scared and nervous.  Hasn't bucked with the trainer ridding him but after 3 or 4 weeks just started bucking in round pen after being saddled and just in the barn just after saddle was put on, it is ridding around really nice???  Is really jumpy when people are around, not as bad  when only the trainer is there.???  Any help would be greatful.

I would evaluate him for soreness first.  If he wasn't a problem at first something (i.e. saddle) may be making him sore.   You say that he has not been handled much - I would do some major round pen/ground work to get his respect and trust.  He may be slow maturing as well but I would get a handle on his ground work first as that will set the tone for saddle work.  Good luck.

Thank you the trainer and the man that raised him cheeked him out and think he is sore in his withers, we are bringing him home and we will be doing the Clinton Anderson round   pen work on him while he gets over being sore.  He has never offered to do anything while the man was ridding him, I hope we can get him out of being so jumpy, he travles very well and works off his backend properly and is loping really nice circles, hopefully the trainer just left a few wholes in the groundwork and he will be ok, just hope he doesn't ever buck with me on him, he can really get with it.  Thanks!!!!!!

I wouldn't rule out EPM. I'm proud to say that my 12 year old's ground attitude has done a 180. I see you're in Arkansas, so it's a possibility.... But I'm also not experienced with young ones! Good luck!

Dandelion and chamomile either in herb or essential oil formula to calm him. Feed it for at least two weeks.

I had one like that last summer as a 3yr old. Never held a lot of stock in it before but he really is a women's horse and after having 2 men ride him, the latter got him in a wreck of some sort to the point the horse is now a blown fuse, I'll be much more caring of this. I'm going to send him to a woman that is willing to take him and start him totally from scratch in the hopes I can either have a nice horse or at least be able to safely sell him. I rode him after the first trainer and he rode really nice, almost fancy broke. He had too much time off so I was chicken to get back on and had someone ride him for a couple weeks. That was the beginning of the end. These types of horses don't seem to have a lot f confidense in themselves or their riders. They take a ton of time and patience, but you also can't "baby" them or they won't ever get better. Do a lot of desensitizing.

How many drops do you use and do you drop it on the feed? Also, who do you get your herbs from?
