Horse got bit Tues right on the side of the spine, dead center - swelling and cut. The cut is about 2 by 1 inches... figures cause I have been prepping for events this weekend for months. Trying to get the sensitivity and swelling out, but my question is - anyone have ideas on creative padding? Of course I usually ride in a treeless! I am just thinking if there is a way to make sure it doesn't rub. Another option would be a treed- but I think the pad would still posiblly rub it even thought the tree would keep pressure off the spot. Anyone experience this and was successful with 'cutting up' a saddle pad- or another method?

hate to be the bad one to say this....but I would not be even thinking of riding my horse if he had a cut on his back, I couldn't imagine the pain even if it was padded. Will probably start to cause some pretty bad habits if ridden in pain.

I agree not riding if he is sensitive at all. But it looks like the swelling etc may be gone and just thinking about the abrasion. It isn't really deep or big - just a bite in a bad spot. I just thew it out here cause sometimes someone has a good idea like how to pad to not rub a spot - not cause I am silly enough to ride one who is sore.
