don/t just plow a large space up use tires or cones for alley way that way its more versiltle and no in and out alleyway issues
you can set it up so many different way look at martha josey book lots of way to work but they never know it
I don't have an outdoor arena, but my suggestion would be to not have the alley way/gate facing west into the arena. I run at an arena that is set up that way, and if the jackpot is in the evening you are running into the sun looking for the barrels.
A holding pen area. Whether you make the arena long enough to set up an alley and holding pen area with fence panels or make it outside the arena it's nice to have a defined waiting area IMO to avoid congestion at the gate/alley of people just waiting around.
