Hi all!! I need a little help, please.
Working on a jackpot and doing pee wee prizes. Going to be doing buckles for each "D" in the jackpot as well as the average... BUT I want to be able to give everyone something.  The problem is, I dont know how many will show up.. I'd like to get drawstring backpacks and put "things" in them, but I dont know what type of things.   Reins, bell boots, etc, things.   Not wanting the color book, candy, etc things.
Any help would be appreciated.
THANK YOU!!!

I might not be a big help on the prizes. Maybe a t-shirt, a brush, leadrope.
But thank you for doing something for all of them! Not every association does that, and it is sad when there are a couple of kids that get nothing...

Sounds like your spending a lot of money on prizes for kids to get led around the barrel pattern.  Especially since our Peewees pay $1 or $2 to participate.

I would stick to coloring books, candy, toys, items from Frozen, etc.  A 5 year old isn't going to see the benefit of something they can't play with later.  They probably don't really care what reins they are using, etc.  You'd make some kids day to give them a Frozen Elsa stuffed doll, or a boy a little toy bulldozer to play in the dirt while mom's barrel racing.

Our kids usually get an embroidered directors chair at the year end awards if they participate in up to 5 of the shows or something like that.

My sons youth ranch rodeo association give T-shirts and caps like crazy! They also give halters, duffle bags, blankets, hay bags, reins and bits throughout the year to the second - fifth place teams.

I do like the T-shirt and cap idea, if you have a logo or association name to put on it. Bell boots would be good too, just think of the little things you can never have too many of, but won't break the bank.

what about a little trophy to put in the bag? I know the T-ball baseball players used to love getting trophies.

I wish our leadline class was $1 or $2. It's usually around $20 to enter the leadline kids (at every playday). I also appreciate associations that give participation awards. My daughter has always loved reins and boots. She puts them on her legs or her stuffed animal horses in the house. She likes to get flymasks and horse cookies as well. She remembers all of her tack she's won and loves to use all of it. Another idea is a small trophy. She's always proud of her trophies.

The shows I go do get the "KING" size candy bars or the small cans of Soda and normally various coloring books. And they are more excited about the candy bars than anything.

Thanks everyone.  I know it might seem crazy to spend a bit of money on pee wee prizes, but I want to get them involved. There is nothing around here for the kids to go to, and there are a number of kids that would come if the opportunity was there.

I just want them to feel like they did a good job, even if they are "getting lead" around.

I would rather spend money on the little peewees than the adult/teenagers! The little ones are always so excited when they receive their prize. Kinda makes your day.

We had McDonalds and Dairy Queen sponsor our Pee Wee Classes as a participant prize. $5 gift cards. We announced and made banners that thanked the businesses that helped make the class so special. It also allowed us to put the entry into the payback for the fastest riders, but acknowledge those that put in an effort.

Our show was in August so they were pretty excited to win those and the restaurant usually had the whole family come in with the Pee Wee participant. Those businesses were across the street from the show facility. Also had brushes and buckets donated by the local feed company. We planned for 30 and had 27 entries.

Kids and parents loved it.

I think it's important to make the little ones feel proud and accomplished. It also motivated mine, they love getting "adult awards and prizes", they don't care for the kiddie stuff.

We did a little bag with the nice Oster mane & tail brushes, neon colored braid bands, and a few other little doodads for our peewees. Horse treat baggies are also great, and if you have a local feed store, they might be willing to put together some sample baggies for free! Saddle crosses would be fun to put in the bags. Tshirts are always good too. Don't put a year on the t-shirts, and if you have too many save them for next year!

You could also get "(year) PeeWee Barrels" screenprinted on the bags, and blue rosette ribbons (they seem a little more special, they will get a ton of single participant ribbons in their life), a lead rope, a restaurant certificate, and maybe a free entry to the next race? From pricing on the internet, you'd have about $30 invested in each, depending on how many you would need.

I can tell you the pee wee aged kids will love anything you give them from a dollar bill to a buckle. The pee wee prize my 5 year old has won is a stuffed horse that they had monogramed with the name of the barrel race and pee wee champion each kid loved them my son sleeps with his "tropy horse" every night.

Here is the stuffed animal, they emborydered on his belly

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The little guys being lead around the barrels is where champions start! I go to very few races around here that actually have a pee-wee class. If they don't I just a pay for a time only for my daughter.

She loves getting horse treats and brushes, I know you said you didn't want to do toys but they are good too. But her very favorite award ever was a single dollar bill! She loved that because she "won money, just like mommy". She has won checks before but to her, that is just a piece of paper! That dollar was something physical she could put in her pocket!

Last year I purchased and donated a really nice stick horse to the winner of the lead line class at a show... this little stick pony was cute! The little girl who won it was cute, too, but she really, really, really liked that stick horse. She had her momma "wrap its leg" before it was loaded into the trailer, gave it water at the water stop on the way home... and has continued to care for it like a real horse. I love hearing the latest stores about her and her stick pony!

In the past when I managed shows I have given cute little lunch boxes filled with interesting fun toys and a candy bar, gift cards to various restaurants and Toys R Us, etc....

What about some rope halters and some cheap wild rags or bandanas, maybe a small book on horses.

ribbons are pretty inexpensive if you order on-line.
certificates - you can design and print those on your computer and get a cheap frame from the dollar store.

My husband coached my son's kindergarten flag football team and we took photos throughout the "season" and put the photos on a disk along with a framed certificate and photo for each child. Went over big with the kids and the parents.

I got the local farm store to donate a couple of the plastic 4 quart buckets. Then I bought a horse treat bag and split it up. I also put apples and the small oranges in the bucket with the smaller bottles of water.

My boys got hooded sweatshirts from the summer series they belonged to last year. All participants got one, winners got a buckle, reserve was a bronc halter (nothing fancy) and then brushes, feed scoops, flashlights. A lot of these items would have cost less than $5 and the kids loved them,

One of the pee wee prizes my kids won when they were little  that they were most excited about was kid size sleeping bags. They LOVED them. My daughter just had a big pee wee race at one of her series she puts on. She had found a childs saddle on sale at a tack shop for pretty ccheap. She bought that saddle for the pee wee class and did a drawing for it from all pee wee entrants. She had over 40 pee wee kids entered!
