| I just heard this song yesterday, is it just me or does he sound like Willie Nelson a bit?

| It's you....
Though his phrasing is similar and may be what makes you think of Willie.
But then this is all JMHO, and you have yours, so if you think he sounds like Willie, then to you, he sounds like Willie. |

LOL!
It's funny, growing up, I never was a Willie fan - too nasal but later in life, I really appreciate his music - and the meaning. |

Location: Florida | I like him a lot! This is the only song I think you're right- he's got a Willy-esque style going on lol I don't LOVE the voice changing effects he had on some songs in this new album but I LOVE it! |

Have all his albums and got to see him in concert a few months ago--GREAT show. He played for hours. Probably the best concert I've been to. |

| I've always thought he sounded like Willie. Not a dead-ringer or anything, but just a subtle similarity. My husband thinks I'm crazy so I'm glad I'm not the only one! |

| I would assume it is his phrasing and his knack to fall a bit behind the beat occassionaly with his phrasing. Willie Nelson is notorius for this. That is why so many singers say it is nearly impossible to sing a duet with him, you just have to sing louder than him. LOL However, Willie often sings off the beat much moreso than Eric. We saw him in Tupelo and oh my it was wonderful. I said the same thing---think it was the best concert ever. Our group ranged from 17 to 72 and everybody had a ball. |

That's probably why I had just heard it this week, the station I usually listen to (KFDI) would never, in a million years play it and I'm starting to find their station quite boring. |

I like my country a little edgy. Was sitting in the front of the pickup line getting my kids from their Christian school one day...engine off because I was early, windows down, music playing, singing along with my eyes closed. I'm deaf in one ear, so I didn't realize at first that the kids had come out, and there I was belting out "Jack Daniels kicked my ass again last night." My son was like "mama, really?" LMAO. Oops. |

That's why I like Eric Church. He just says what he wants, and it's all golden. I mean "she's got a rock, I'm gettin' stoned" is something that won't play on the radio, but it's a dang good song! |
