| I'm looking for a different kind of feed to feed and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of feed?
He
ADM and Blue Bonnet is available in my area. I've never tried it though and of course when you go to any feed website they all sound so good lol.
I'm trying to figure out what I should feed each particular horse if I do switch to this feed. Right now I feed Beet pulp, Rice bran, and Enrich Plus - which is a pain to feed when hauling
1) yearling stud that will start ground work in a few months and hauling - nothing major though
2) 7 y/o mare that will start back in training and competing in barrels
3) 7y/o mare and 15 y/o gelding who are extremely easy keepers, not rode much just a kid horse that gets played on, one is insulin resistance,
4) 29 y/o senior mare, no work hard keeper.
All of these horses either get pasture turn out or Bermuda/mixed grass hay
So does anyone have an experience with this brand of feed? good or bad?

Location: Oklahoma | I would search threads on horse feed. ADM is not a feed you will catch me anywhere near. If you're on facebook look up the page "Is Your Horse Feed Safe". ADM uses mills that also produce medicated cattle feed that is toxic to horses. |

| Thanks for the Response! I'll scratch that one off my list of feeds. What about Blue Bonnet, Nutrena, and Purina |

Blue Bonnet is a safe feed. Nutrena is iffy. I was feeding Nutrena Pro Force Fuel but found out that the mill in OKC is not safe as previously stated. I have switched to the Blue Bonnet Omega and feel good about it. I've never fed Purina, so can't offer a suggestion on that one.
eta: I am also feeding Standlee Aflafla pellets (safe)

| I used to feed adm but with how irresponsible the company is and how extremely in denial they are I can not stand by the company. If they were going to change there feed handling practices I would still be an adm customer. It's like Russian rulet using there feed. Like above there are threads that go on for pages about medicated feed and adm. |

| My first choice would be blue bonnet awsome feed!!! Unfortunently there is no way I can get it here. Nutrena isn't a "safe feed" in my area and not high enough callorie for my needs. The last few years purina has really updated there feeds and they are "safe". This is my mare before and after purina active senior. She is 4 but the active senior has everything a competing young horse needs.

| Blue Bonnet is safe. Purina should be too. Nutrena...it depends on the mill. Some don't use ionophores or lasacoids. Others do. ADM...I wouldn't feed it if it was the last feed on earth. If you have access to Blue Bonnet, it's by far the best way to go IMO. |

We have our yearlings on Bluebonnet Growth and Developement and they look great. I like being able to feed them so much less than we do of other bagged feeds. |

| I fed ADM for about two years, but was never totally satisfied with it. I switched to BB and like it. I feed a third to a half less BB than ADM. My mare's tail is quite a bit longer using BB and her hair coat is better. She has very fine hair and her tail hair would break off much easier on the ADM. I feed the barrel horse Omega Force and my four year old and broodmare Equilene. They all have free choice bermuda hay, grass now and some alfalfa hay. |

Location: Texas | I definitely would NOT feed ADM products! We feed Purina (various products) to all the ranch horses, but my barrel horses get RG. |

Location: Texas | I have fed ADM in the past and never had a problem. Switched to Blue Bonnet after the last scare, just because of the scare. My horses have lost weight and I am not feeding any less. I like the feed, but am concerned about the weight loss. I have wormed and am going to worm again hoping that will take care of it. |

Which Bluebonnet feed did you switch to? We are feeding Omega Force and the most any of them are getting now is 6# a day. We also have several of them on the Transform DSI supplement due to some issues with another feed. |
