You can Google for a horse product or you can use brown listerine.

I used a recommendation from here or another site. It was 1/2 bottle water. 1/4 listerine. approx 1/4 baby oil. I shaved the spots, picked the scabs and sprayed this on. It was dramatically better in just a few days.

We have been able to turn it around with a couple of washes with EzeAll.  It gets rid of the debris and cleared up the rain rot.

The Micro-Tek Shampoo does a fantastic job very quickly. That's my go-to.

I'm not a dealer! I just LOVE this stuff because you can use it for anything and after just two or 3 applications can tell BIG differences. I love it for gelding/mare "leg funk" from peeing on themselves or being in season, cleans it right up!

Someone on here recommended Synbiont for Scratches. This is basically the same fungus as rain rot. The Synbiont did a number on the scratches. It will probably so the same for rain rot. Good stuff. By the way, thanks to whoever recommended it.

Shapely's MTG works very well. I feel your pain. I haven't had one get it in YEARS, and I had one get a pretty bad case of it this year. But the MTG cleaned up the fungus pretty good. Now I'm just waiting for his hair to grow back. The MTG really helps the hair grow too.

Soooo many options. I always use a thick paste of water and baking soda. Shmear it on. Works pretty quick. Just hard to explain to people why your horse has white crud caked all over. LOL.

It's not a fungus, I wouldn't treat the horse for something it doesn't have.

Aside from a regular treatment recommended by a vet, or experienced person , I suggest you put the horse on the best hoof supplement you can get as biotin and zinc methionine are great for skin health.

Actually I suggest manuka honey from New Zealand as a topical treatment . Ask your vet if this sounds nuts! a friend of mine swears by the stuff.

Cheers,
Coastal Rider

I use micro tek as well but calm coat is great bc its like an oil that stays on the skin. Bonus is it smells great and makes your hands and their hair super soft.

I used to use a product called Toad Juice
I'm not sure where to find it any more but it worked great on a little colt I had that had it.
Synbiont works well on most things as well.

Any recommendations for something that can be bought at TSC/Atwoods? Just noticed that one of my geldings is starting to get some on his front legs.

Do horses need to be stalled (kept dry) while treating? Everything is a muddy mess here and the rain has begun again. I can stall him, but he will be miserable.

You can Google for a horse product or you can use brown listerine.

Used this and the huge area was clear in 1 week
