Psalm 51:1 have mercy on me, O God, according to your loving kindness: according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
We all need to be rebooted now and then. So when all else fails, you hold down the home ad sleep buttons and that help fix almost anything.
David found a reset button for life gone wrong. It is built on Gods unique operating system called " Mercy".
The psalmist shows us that the reset button for gods mercy is confession of sin. Old fashion repentance. 1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from the unrighteousness.
We were born in sin have continued to sin since birth. That sin depravity , and we have Adam and Eve to thank for it. No wonder our lives get so hung up.
The desire for the psalmist was restoration , to be purged from filth he felt in his sinfulness. We have all been in this spot, probably more times than we care to admit. The answer is to remember His mercy, and to push the reset button of confession and repentance.
Father God, I am a sinner. lay Your hand of mercy over me. Guide me to righteousness. I ask You to forgive me. I know Jesus died and rose again, I ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Guide me Lord to do all things to always bring glory and honor to You. AMEN
