| been patiently waiting on a stone bruise to heal, but after 5 weeks horse still comes up lame after riding......we have pads on and magic cushion. So, am I just being impatient? How long does a stone bruise take to heal? Any suggestions for faster healing or treatment? |

Per vet examination, it's a stone bruise.
Thank you for responding.
I believe diagnosis is right on due to the amount of healing...I mean, it has
improved

| sometimes your farrier can cut them out. also there is a product call karatex that is suppose to prevent stone bruises incase your horse gets them often |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Not a stone bruise, but I had a horse overstride and bruise his heel to the point it took 3 months to heal. I took him to the vet after 2 weeks of still being lame for x-rays, they all came back clean ($500 worth of x-rays too) so they said it was just a bad bruise.
I would assume if a horse hit a rock REALLY hard they could do the same kind of damage to where it might take forever and a day to heal. |

| Mine took a good 6 weeks and then it ended up abscessing out as well. We did xrays as well and found it was only a bruise but it took all in all about 8-10 weeks. But he lived in his soft rides during the process. |

| My horse has been lame lately - thought it was just thrush but after reading this thread I bet it's a bruise. Been a few weeks now treating with Thrush Buster and Today. Better go and get those soft rides… Thanks for posting. |

No! It will just get worse and won't ever heal. If you have a bruise, you wouldn't want someone to keep poking it.... |

No I won't use them.
Since it has been a lengthy time, I would be going back to the vet and get more X-rays to ensure the coffin bone has not been damaged |

Right^^ A stone bruise can cause an abscess... That sounds like what you have here... |

Location: Northwest | I always slather Smile's Prid drawing salve on my horse's hooves when they stone bruise or have achy feet. I consider it to be my secret miracle product. Unfortunately it comes in a tiny can but it does last for quite some time. |

Location: Piedmont, OK | Rikkens helps harden it. Or there is some green paste with epsom salt you can use that and a pad, a diaper and lots of duct tape and it will pull the soreness out. |
