I've heard abt the tampons workin, but my friend gave me some of the fuzzy ones so I guess I'll try them! I'm scared my horse will start shaking his head while running, do they feel them in there?

Tatum2 - 2015-04-24 6:40 AM Tampons.. Seriously. Cheap way to do it. Alot of ropers use them. Pull them apart and leave the string hanging out of the ear.
Yep. We usually get them wet and then hang them up to dry out a little bit, fluff them out and you're all set.

http://www.kvsupply.com/horse-ear-plugs-with-string These are the ones we use in our shooting horses. A lot of people use the little soccar ball cat toys as well. Regardless of what style you go with you will want to use them for a few rides to get your horse used to them.

Use them some when you are riding just so that they will get used to the feel then no head shaking

We use the fuzzy ones for mounted shooting and my wife also uses them on her rodeo horse. Some horses will take weeks to get used to them being put in and wearing them, though most horses take to it in just a few tries. Leave them in for as short a time as possible and that will help the horse tolerate them.

give it a shot tonight before you go and if he's a nut with them in then don't run him in them tonight, otherwise you're probably good. We use them on our horses for rodeos and 4th of july because our neighbors get the big booming ones and it scares them. Some horses head shake and others are just fine. One of mine still shakes his head for the first few minutes even after years of use and my mare never cared one bit.
