I have both. For bigger outdoor pens I've used the draw with the rope noseband and indoors and small outdoors she seems to be fine with no noseband. In saying that I'm assuming you mean a rope noseband and not a tie down?

I ordered a couple draw gags from Duttons last year, and was unsure if I wanted them with or without a noseband. My takeaway from talking to them was that if you like the feel of a plain draw gag but your horse is pushing through you or needs a bit more control, go to the same mouthpiece with a noseband.
