So I am about to be on the hunt for a new saddle. I am selling one that doesn't fit any of my horses. How do I go about buying a saddle that I KNOW fits my horse? I am not utterly terrible about figuring out saddle fit but I don't want to go on this buy/sell buy/sell spree. I will have to buy used. How do I go about making sure a saddle REALLY fits before buying?

Have them professionally fitted at big events where the vendors have the bare trees. This is what I did for my Double J and when I was in a Martin I hauled down there and had Brian and Tracy go over it with me. I don't trust myself because it's a very finicky ordeal.

Double J is! Caldwell was last year, but I've not been there yet this year. And you can set up an appointment with National Saddlery (at BBR as well) for a Martin fit. :)

I hate to say this but there's really no guarantee on a saddle to fit good/perfect. The best fitting saddle on my one gelding is my Caldwell that I bought used last year.

We live outside OKC and we just got back from taking my gelding over to the BBR finals to be fitted by Double J. Quick and in and out for us. Double J's trailer is set up outside between the superbarn and barn 6/performance arena.  They had a ton of saddles there and all of their trees.
