We are putting up a deck this year and I originally wanted composite but have found articles stating that they are not as good and don't last as long as people think. I was wondering what people have and what your experience with them is?

How high is it off the ground? Its its right on the ground with little air flow I would opt for composite otherwise its pretty much personal preference.
Wood looks good but requires up keep while composite looks not so good with minimal upkeep.
It'd be about 3ft off the ground. We originally wanted composite because I thought it was maintenance free and lasts longer but read an article saying it doesn't and that it's bad for the environment so now I don't know.
We live in Oregon, with a very wet climate. We have a composite deck (I think Trex is the brand). It is going on seven years, and looks brand new. As far as "looking good" there are definitely better brands than others. Ours looks like stained wood and is beautiful. I pressure wash it like twice a year to get all the Oregon off of it, but other than that it is maintenance free.

When we were considering building a raised deck while building our news home Trex as the composite we planned to use.... my husband had done lots of research and said Trex was in his opinion the best.
There were issues in the past w/Trex decking but the company stood by its warranty from what i can tell. Wood is beautiful but needs to be treated every couple years or at least here in Oregon. Just be sure you never paint the wood if you go that direction. Oregon Realtor.
