I am currently feeding Purina Ultium to 2 of my horses and my 2 older horses get Purina Equine Sr. I also feed them soaked alfalfa pellets with their grain. I am
thinking of switching over to Triple Crown 30% along with soaked alfalfa pellets. I do not feed the suggested amounts of either ultium or equine sr. to meet their nutritional needs. All
horses are plenty fat. I also feed a probiotic and they have free choice second cutting grass hay available at all times and get turned out for 3 hours of grass per day. Any suggestions
on feeding a grain free diet...pros and cons? Been a loyal Purina feeder for 30 years so this is a big step for me.

If you do search here on the forums (located at the bottom of the page on the barrel talk forum) you can pull up MANY posts about horse nutrition and diet. There is also a forum about non toxic grains you can feed.
Check it out! Very helpful to pull up older threads and search through them. I do it all the time.

Well if I could post pictures on here I'd show you what my horses look like on a no grain diet even during full competition from last summer......has worked for us....they r on alfafa cubes, free choice mineral and pasture in summer, along with Equi-Sure supplement.
I am not against grain included in a diet, but knowing what your feeding is key....I understand many need to supplement for lower quality hay and other situations, I'd say whatever works for your horse do that... Grain, extruded etc all have a place
