Is it normal, or even an option, to temporarily insure your horse while he is away at the trainers? How much did it cost per month? If you did it temporarily, was it worth doing or did they not cover as much as they would if you paid for long term insurance? Never insured one before so input is greatly appreciated.

I wont be much help but it is possible. I leased a horse the person wanted 15K for, and insured her for 15k, as I had her for a month and hauled her to YW... I want to say the cheapest option for me was to do like 2 months and it cost 400$ but that is relative to the amount you insure for. I use Wilkins now... I may have been with Markel at the time. I cant remember but I know we changed companies but I think a lot of companies probably do it. You could call wilkins they usually get a rep on the phone right when you call.. :)

I am not sure about loss of use.. I think mine was only mortality or major medical, but like I said this was in 2006 and I was 14.. but if they did it then im sure they do it now :)
