While I was riding my 4 year old pit bull from down the street got loose and made a pass at my horse. Owner called him back and he went. I thought he missed my horse as I checked him really close when I got back and there was no blood or Missing hair. Got home today and he has one very small area where he has a bite mark on hind leg. Stocked up about 3 inches is all. Clipped area and ran cold water and scrubbed with Betadine. Called vet and she said to put on antibiotics immediately for 7 days since most dog bites get infected. Horse is sound and feels fine. I was going to run Saturday. Would it hurt to run when on antibiotic treatment? Thx

Not as long as hes not in pain. I wouldn't think an antibiotic would really make much difference. Bummer about the horse though!

Yea he is in NO pain. And we are talking a tiny mark on the leg no big deal. Just curious. Thanks!

My only concern with that. Lol is owner can then come to my house while I'm at work and do something to my horses. But I have creative ways of taking care of it. We had another neighbor with similar dog. So I invited a sheriff friend of mine to go ride with me one day. Dog came out and bam. Lol
