Psalm 77:1 I cried out to God with my voice , to God with my voice; He gave ear to me. In the day of my trouble I sought The Lord ; my hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing my soul ,refused to be comforted. I remember God, and was troubled; I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed.
In today's passage , Asaph was experiencing a time of spiritual pain. He asked God will He never show us favor? Has His promised failed? Has He stopped being merciful?
We already know the answer to each question: No Gods grace, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness never go away. But even though Asaph surely knew the right answer in his heart and mind, his experience was telling him a different story. He cried out to God in the night, but found no comfort. he was overwhelmed and tortured by memories of the past when God's presence had been close that Asaph had sung praises to Him from his bed at night. Now, The Lord was keeping Asaph's eyes open all night long and he tough questions swirled in his mind. So instead of holding questions inside, he simply ask God.
Asaph sets a great example for us when the past life causes us to have hard questions for God. Today, if the problems and pain in your life are causing your doubts in your heart, be honest with God about them. VerbaliIng your questions to God will bring your back to His goodness, grace, and mercy once more. You'll be reminded that His compassion never ceases and His promises never fail.
For it is wit God all things are possible
