Good Friday morning everyone! Well apparently I am supposed to be keeping a breeding log per my county's tax appraisal district. Does anyone else do these, what does it consist of? If anyone has an example of what they use that would be amazing! Thanks in advance.

Are you hand breeding or pasture breeding?

I bought a cheap yearly planner. In it I write down everything. I am pasture breeding this year, so I've written down the dates mares have arrived and the date I put my stud out with them. If I see him covering a mare, I write that down too. I also write down when I observe the mares going out of heat. Just write down all the dates the vet is out ultrasounding, etc and the cover dates.

Ok, Maybe I can make some sort of spreadsheet with all that info so that I don't have to send them a whole yearly planner. Thank you for your reply, it is greatly appreciated!!!

An excel spread sheet is easy too. I have one with expenses/income and broken down by the months

I just put everything on my Outlook calendar. I use online foaling date and color calculators. I keep scans and paper copies of all breeding paperwork (stallion contracts, vet bills, etc.).

I used to use a calendar program that was on my computer. But the last time I had to upgrade my computer it didn't transfer and I couldn't find one like it.  So I made my own calendar with excel and I have it formated with lines for the different proceedures the mares will have done.  I make notes for each day on all the things I do with or to them.

Then I have a separate spreadsheet I post breeding dates and formulas to alert me to deadlines like when they need to be preg checked, start teasing them again or if they haven't foaled yet, the number of days they are currently in foal, etc...  It works.
