anybody had experience with these? i have a three yr old that i noticed a swelling in front of scrotum area which is tender to the touch. never really noticed it before today which was strange. what us the usual cost of surgery on these? do they go away on their own?

they are umbilical hernias, depending on how large the hole in on the inside.....they normally don't bother the horse. My gelding has one, vet checked it out and said not to worry about it. But surgery could cost anywhere from $500 - $1,200 on it.
If he's 3 & it is a hernia it might require surgery depending on the size of the hernia. I paid about $900 to fix a hernia that was about an inch & a half in size on my 2 yr old.

My mare had a small umbilical hernia when I bought her as a yearling. It closed on its own before I could get it repaired. I don't think that's normal tho.
