Location: WI | I'm really up in the air on this. My horse is really short backed. If I let saddle slide and sit where it wants, it goes so far back, the back of saddle practically hit his rump. So do I leave it, or force it forward with breast collar? |

| There shouldn't be a reason that your saddle slides back unless it doesn't fit. Too wide comes to mind.
Pics would be helpful. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I have a really short backed mare. If you measure from the front concho to the back concho that will give you a pretty good guesstimate on how long the tree is. Start saddle shopping for something with a short tree. We're getting by with what we have for our mare because she's rode very little. I do know that the Connie Combs saddles have a short tree. |

What brand of saddle is this? Sounds like its a bad fit if it goes that far back... Pictures would help |

The gullet can also be too narrow too as the shoulders may be pushing the saddle back |

| I have a horse that has really high withers, kissing spines, so he is a little sway back. My saddle fits fine but would slide back. He leaves the barrels hard. My trainer told me to get a Western Legends saddle pad. I did and it resolved the situation. |

Location: WI | I'll get pics tomorrow. He is narrow, but has that buldge in his shoulders. Every saddle I use doors this. Custom one, circle y and a Bob Marshall |
