Location: bring on the heat, NV | How do you manage your horses that ty up? Tips and tricks. My new mare Lacey had full episode on the side of the mountain today... looking back there were just a few things that should have clued me that this may be chronic and not a freak thing. So whats working for you?? |

| A shot of Selenium and Vit E once a month during the summer months. But it probably depends on the horse and situation. |

Location: bring on the heat, NV | Thank you Jake ill check it out :) We ve had little issues with her but now it really seems to me like she was just cramping/tying up a little bit. Ill check into the shot Monday when I can get the vet on the line. |

This! My mare has severe PSSM per muscle biopsy and (knock on wood) we have managed it very well with no episodes for a long time with diet and consistent exercise. |

Location: Somewhere between S@% stirrer and Saint | This suggestion involves an anabolic steroid that you will have to get from your vet. I guarantee it will work.2 cc of Nandrolone in the muscle.Next day 2cc of Nandrolone in the muscle.Skip the third.4th day give 2cc of Nandrolone in the muscle. My vet from Ruidoso gave me thus routine years ago. |

Location: bring on the heat, NV | She has been getting Alfalfa (2nd cutting) and just not quite a lb of a manna pro controlled starch (only difference between it and the low starch was the controlled starch had higher fat same NSC if I remember correctly) with one scoop of platinum performance regular. Our area is deficient in copper and seleium but the grain has a added seleium/copper (within a safe supplement level I checked). She was pretty buddy sour had a hissy fit and tied up shortly after. On some links it was recommended to add a calming supplement to insecure horse that tend to ty up. Anyone tried it? Thank you all again for the info. I have turned turned out now in a large dry lot. Ill have grass hay this upcoming week. I want to try renew gold on her but do I keep the platinum or leave it out? |
