Our prayers go out to Rich Skelton and his family. Rich was driving a tractor down the road and was rear ended by a car. He was airlifted to Austin. The most recent update from Chris Cox this morning is that he suffered a swollen heart, broken ribs, and has been put in an induced coma. Rich, from Llano, Texas, is a 21x WNFR qualifier and has won 8 world titles as a heeler.

| There is a pic on Facebook of accident. Looks pretty bad. Car that hit him looked totaled and tractor was on its side. |

From the family of Rich Skelton: Rich has woke up, they took the ventilator out and he is breathing on his own. At this time the family asks if you could please refrain from calling the hospital and the family at this time. They also ask that you please do not put assumptions on social media, so that people are not misinformed. They appreciate the prayers and phone calls, but they just need some rest so they can be there for Rich. He is still in ICU and needs to recover. We will keep you updated. Thank you again everyone! Please share this status, so we can get the word out. |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | May 15, 2015: Llano, Texas Eight Time World Champion Team Roper Air Lifted Following Major Accident in Llano County Rich Skelton of Llano, Texas was air lifted to Austin after being involved in a major accident just north of Llano near the Llano Municipal Airport on highway 16 North. The accident occurred between 6 and 7 pm on Friday, May 15, 2015 when Mr. Skelton was driving a tractor on highway 16 and involved 2 other vehicles. A truck pulling a livestock trailer was unable to slow down in time and rear ended a passenger vehicle pushing the car into the back of the tractor Mr. Skelton was driving. The impact caused the tractor to roll over on its side ejecting Skelton through the top of the canopy on the tractor. Mr. Skelton was located about 25 feet from the tractor. Mr. Skelton sustained serious injuries and was air lifted to an Austin area hospital for medical treatment. The latest status as of this writing is he is awake and breathing on his own. The driver of the passenger vehicle was also transported by LCEMS. Rich holds record 8 world titles in team roping (Heeling). LCSO, LVFD, LCEMS, and DPS assisted at the scene. Highway 16 had to be shut down for a short period of time. Photos sent in by subscriber. Thank You. |
