The average gestation is supposed to be 330-345 days....but am I the only person who thinks it should be more like 345 to 365? Of course I'm no expert. So anyways....at what day did your broodmare foal? Any years, not just this year......and by the way, we are at 356 and waiting patiently. I don't think she is ready just yet.I just tossed some days out there, but add your own.....

My only mare due this year foaled at 348 days. My other mare only went 328 days last year. A broodmare I lost a couple of years ago - she tended to go to 357 days +. They're all different!

I'm the one that marked 360....This was a few years ago that my maiden 15 yr. old mare was in foal to Designer Red and I was afraid of a problem and not being able to get her to the vet in time, so I took her to Dr. Powers clinic to foal about the 350 day mark because I was SURE she was only a day or 2 away....wrong....I had to pay board for 10 extra days before she finally foaled...but I'm so glad she was there because the foal presented with her head turned around and there was help right there to remedy it.....her last breeding dates were June 5-9 and she foaled on May 30th...

I don't know if they still do this.. But... Back when I was a kid living 30+ miles from Fort 'Wood'... we could hear the artillery fire that far away....
One good explosion close to her should set things in motion...

I didn't track it to the day on her first one, but she went well over.  I know she went a minimum 12 months, but not sure how much over since I didn't record the exact date she was bred.

We are at 370 today. Now she usually goes 365 so not really jumping up and down just yet. However, I told her that I was not really having much fun with this up all night foal checking thing. So hang in there and wait with me

My mare went 377 days with her last foal. She always goes over a year so I wasn't super worried about it, but I was definitely impatient seeing everyone else getting their babies in WAY less time. My vet always told me that they cook them until they are done. Your mare is probably just making sure you get exactly what you want!

I have 3 mares that have foaled so far this year.  First one, maiden mare exactly 326 days.  Only got her covered once so that is the exact amount of days of gestation.  Second mare, who usually foals a couple weeks early went 335 days from her last breeding date.  Third mare when 342 days from her last breeding date.

I'm at 326 today with full wax and now dripping milk. I think she would have foaled last night but I found my super excited husband sitting next to her loving on her last night. I think she decided to hold it in longer due to being disturbed.

I like over 330 at least. Mine went at 310 this morning

One of my colts came at 318. He was really loose in the backend and had to be stall bound for a few weeks along with getting a medication that worked wonders (IMO) and he's totally fine now! But I cried many tears over him when he first came out because I was so sure he would never be normal. He's still not normal because he's a total spoiled brat, but he's conformationally correct and is growing as he should. This mare also had one go right about 330 on the first foal so she's definitely a shorter breeder.
I once worked for a farm that regularly had mares go 370-380. I think the longest while I was there was 383. That mare stressed me out big time!!!
