whats the best feed to feed your pregnant mare? my mare also has allergies and needs a ration of dex occasionally. which, is not recommended for pregnant mares. So with that what can i safely give her for her flare ups?? thanks in advance!!!!

My mare is on Renew Gold and Oxy-max and is on pasture for 12 hours a day. She is still being ridden at competition level. She will get November till June off where she will be on pasture and hay.

Please do the allergy testing! Even if you don't decide to do the treatment you can still see if she's allergic to any feedstuffs. The only way around them is to avoid. My gelding is allergic to oats and that eliminates a lot of feeds.

Same here except since we are greening up they only get the BB omega instensify and beet pulp. LOVE IT

thank you all!! i will get her allergy tested its odd i haven't changed her feed and she is great most of the time and it seams like this time of year she gets bad flare ups! and i cant let her out on pasture:( she gets alfalfa and safe choice mare and foal. also give her some allergy supplements which none of them seam to help. thats actually why i stopped running her she got so bad and i was trying everything!!
i will ask my vet about allergy testing:)

My mare is getting purina Impact textured 12% It's about a $15 bag of feed. Then she get a flake of alfalfa. She comes in about 2 hours am and pm to eat. Once the grass drops off she will get about 10# of grass hay per day as well.
I have a gelding who keeps a cough. He gets MSM and red cell and that has really helped. Not sure if a pregnant mare can have it but worth checking on.

I'm loving the results I'm seeing... we don't want to deplete our grass so we are still feeding round bales just for security. They are looking good though!

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT TO FFED WITHOUT ANY SUPPLEMENTS. I DONT WANT TO GIVE HER ANYTHING THAT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PREGNANCY. SHE DOES NOT GET THE PASTURE BECAUSE SHE HAS ALLERGIES BUT GETS PLENTY OF ALFALFA! SHE LOOKS GREAT AND WANTED TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!
