Location: Missouri | I've been wearing a helmet for a few years now, I have a Tipperary. It's never fit right. I was right between medium and large on the size chart and was told to go with a large. It seems to be too snug in front by my forehead and too loose back behind my ears. If that makes sense? It's ok for regular riding but unless I practically choke myself, it slides back during a run. Plus I'm not a fan of how it looks. So....looking for suggestions on helmets that may fit someone with a higher forehead and also a bit of a sportier look/lower profile. TIA! |

Thank you - I'll look into this one. It's not that my head is large it's just my danged forehead lol!!
I feel like I'm wearing a bowling ball on my head with the Tipperary. It's huge. I don't like it at all. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Sounds like you got the wrong helmet..period. The Troxels don't fit me but the Tipperary fits great. The Troxels are for people with round heads and the Tipperays are for people with oval heads. |

Location: North Dakota | I went to an english riding shop in Dallas and tried on every helmet that was the color I wanted. In the end the two that fit me best were a $560 import from England and a $60 Tippery with a sporty design to it, not sure what its called. I got the $60 Tippery. Maybe if I rode everyday I would have invested in the expensive helmet. Some of the helmets fit me really weird so I would suggest anyone wanting a helmet go to a store and try on different helmets to see what fits best! |

My face is oval shaped but my actual head I'd think is more round. I'll have to try a troxel....but check Into their return policy first! |

Location: Illinois | I agree on the Ovations. They're one of the most comfortable helmets I've worn. They have quite a few that are a sporty, low-profiled helmet. My next will be the Ovation Glitz. Smart Pak definitely has one of the best return policies, but Stateline Tack usually has good deals with a good return policy. |

They do have one style that's like a tipperary. I actually tried it and I didn't like it. The dial fit thing interfered with my neck. It just didn't feel right. My friend has the ovation schooler and really likes it. |

Location: Up and over to the right | I love my Ovation schooling helmet, it's cooling and very low profile. I have 2 Charles Owen show helmets (I event and do gymkhanas) and love them but don't want to school in them as replacements are not cheap! |

I do like the Ovation Glitz on smart pak's website too! |

Location: Kansas | I totally love my Charles Owen GR8, but only use it when showing.
For everyday riding at the H/J barn I have a cheap plastic troxel. It fits and I like the fact that there is a dial that adjusts the tightness. I can adjust it to fit if wearing my hair down or flipped up |

| I have the Troxel that is the western look one--think it is the Sierra. I llke it so much that I bought a new one. They are about $100. I have a friend that bought an Ovation on sale and she really likes it. This isn't much help I know. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | I have the Troxel Dakota now and I really like the lower profile less bobble headed look. And...it fits well with an easy adjustment system. I bought the Trail dust color as i really liked the design. its just a nice looking helmet. It's also very light weight and has good venting.

| Troxel Intrepid is another style to check out. I had similar issues with my old Tipperary and I love this one. So light and comfy I find myself leaving it on sometimes while I tack up the next ride. I couldn't wait to get my Tipperary off and I always had awesome red marks on my forehead. |

Haha, I wander around in mine too....between rides, tacking up, putting horses away etc. I'm glad I am not the only one. |

Location: Mississippi | My husband and I ride in Troxels. Very comfortable, but miine seems bulky to me. I wanted to try on different helmets to find one I liked at the Equine Expo at Dixie Nationals this year. I was very disappointed that there were no helmet dealers there. |

That would be great! A side-by-side comparison would help tremendously to see which ones look less bulky! |

| I have a troxel intrepid in carbon color, and I love it. I usually hate helmets, but I found this one a few years ago when it first came out and was like, yes. It's a nice color that is classy, but not flashy, plus it is very lightweight and it doesn't sit in your eyes like most troxels do. It stays out of my way, and is pretty sturdy. |

Usually if you google the helmet name and select images it shows some pictures of the helmet being worn. Some will even have real people instead of just the models. Lol |

I think so. I just tried on several helmets and the Ovation fit so much better. It is light and very comfortable. I ended up buying one on Ebay for $39.00 I was very impressed. I don't know which Troxel I tried on but I didn't like it at all.

| Troxel Rebel! Most comfortable helmet I've ever worn! I believe they are somewhat new, but are getting popular. I am forced to ride in a helmet for 4h and always hated wearing those nasty things, that gave me a headache after 5 minuets, upgraded to a Troxel Rebel and Its like memory foam on your noggin it feels amazing, Now I don't even complain! Accept when it messes up my hair! Lol |

| I have a Troxel Cheyenne, I'm wearing it in my profile pic. It was around $120. It is adjusted with two plastic sliding harness straps that click into place to give a custom fit and is one of the most comfortable helmets I've been able to find. Plus it's black n pink :)
I can't say I haven't been tempted by Fallon's new leopard print ones, but I'm not ready to give mine up just yet... |

I like yours! I think it looks like it has a low profile on in comparison to your head. |

Location: Mississippi | I ride in a Tipperary Sportage and love it. I guess I got lucky because that's just what I happened to order when I first decided to start wearing a helmet and it fit great. I ordered a Troxel because I saw one on clearance and figured it'd be good to have as a backup and I hate it. I think like others said it depends on the shape of your head. My Sportage looks low profile on me whereas the Troxel feels like I'm wearing a bucket. I am still about he only helmet wearer in my area - I'm used to it now but would like to see others doing the same - especially the small kiddos. |

I wish my Tipperary worked for me!!! I look like a turtle in it! Lol!!!
I'm also the only helmet wearer save for one older lady. And she usually goes to arenas I don't hit much. So I'm generally the only one riding around with my 'thinking cap' on! ??
My daughter is still a baby but once she starts riding she WILL wear a helmet I don't care how much she hates me lol! If she wants to run, she will protect that noggin! ;) |
