| So here's the deal, I bought this gelding with high hopes. He is a sweet guy, lots of potential. I rode him for about 45 days after I first got him and he got an abscess in his left front. It took what seemed like forever and he is now sound with a pad on that shoe to keep the hole clean. Anywho, life has happened and I am in a tight situation money wise. Not like I can't pay my bills tight but like counting pennies tight. I had planned on sending him to a trainer as soon as he was sound again and that's obviously not happening.
So A) do I send him down the road for a bargain and get myself out of this tight spot money wise and lose what could be a very awesome running partner (that would leave me with my mare to run and a yearling filly) or do I B) hunker down, ride him at home some more and just wait out the tight situation?
My "tight" spot is that I just bought a house and with all of the deposit here, deposit there, painting, I'm having to make 2 house payments the first month to get on the bi weekly payments (will make life MUCH easier in the future), not to mention moving in general is expensive but I also have to buy basic things that you only buy once every 6 months.
The more I type this, the more I think, just ride it out BUT I want some outside looking in logic.

Location: Where I am happiest | He looks like a nice horse and I can see by your posts you really like him. If it was me, I'd ride it out and do everything I could to keep him. Ride him yourself and cut corners elsewhere. This to shall pass and if you sell him now to rectify a tempory tight spot, thats a permanent thing and you will always regret it and wonder "What could have been". |

I agree wholeheartedly with TC---give him a chance to mature and yourself a chance to get lined out. That way you never wonder "what if" |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Ride it out. he is to nice to let go. They really are hard to come by,especially when broke. You could train him yourself , you know what you need and what needs to be done. Good luck. |
