I don't know a whole lot about cow bred horses in barrels. I've read some threads on here that rave about them, but I'm not sure exactly which lines would be best. I have the opportunity to look at these 3 girls. The first girl ( Shiver ) is a lot sturdier and thicker ( Like a rope horse ) The 2cd girl, who is Shivers' 1/2 sister is more refined. Smaller frame but still very nice. The 3rd girl, is more on the refined side. Nice conformation, just smaller. I can't upload pictures because I'm not that intelligent ( LOL ) but based of lineage, which sounds most promising. I know it's hard to base it off that, but I'm just curious!!!

Location: NC | I am not cowhorse expert at alllllll... but based on papers the 3rd seems to have more up close. BUT by the sounds of them for me I would go with the 1st if she were stockier and sturdier looking.... but thats me. Good luck!! |

| OMG! All of them?! I love a peppy san badger/smart little lena cross!
Do you have pics? That's probably the only way I'd be able to pick. Although depends on what you want. The two yearlings are probably close to blank slates, the 6 year old may be started and depending on if you want something started or fresh, is up to you.
**Edited: I'm an idiot and just looked right at the pedigrees and didn't finish reading the rest of the post about the pictures. Sorry :) I'd take the stockier of the 3 if the other 2 are more refined. I like the short, thick, wide cowy quarter horses :)

Location: Bama | Three looks best on papers. Conformation/temperament should play a large part in your choice though whether for breeding or riding. I've seen some very nice looking papers that belong to some not so nice looking horses. |

Location: Missouri | Peppy San Badger horses are known for bucking. I have had several and all of them have a little buck in them, some worse then others depending on the cross. #3 is what I would go for. You can't beat how smart Doc Hickory horses are. They are ornery as heck but they really are good horses. I have a Doc's Hickory Peppy San Badger cross...BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. Ornery and has a little buck :) |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | It's a toss up between 1 and 3 as I really like the tail-female line on both. It depends on what you are looking, yearling or 6 year old. All 3 should be nice, nice little horses. |

Location: White Mountains of AZ | #3 the 6 yr old had 60 days on her when she was 4, then turned out to pasture. Now is being ridden by a trainer for just a tune up. No barrel training which I'm happy for ha. I was gonna go try her out just to see how she is and if I liked her... not that I really NEED another horse... :/ |

Location: IL | I would do #3 it's the magic cross. You want Doc olena on the top of the sire's side. I would also like pictures too. I have a small refined boned gelding and he is tough as nails, so that would not deter me. I would love to see pics! |

| I would say 3 also based on papers. Smart Little Lena is closer up, and I like Doc O Lena in my cowbreds. |

| I have a Doc O Lena gelding on the top and a Colonel Freckles/ Peppy San Badger gelding on the top. The Doc O Lena gelding is great, the other one is too but he is lazy and bull headed, but I don't give up on him because he is very talented. Both are running bred on the bottom, Doc O Lena is Easy Jet on the bottom and the Colonel Freckles/ Peppy San Badger is Seattle Slew, so he is an appendix. But the attitude comes from the cow side. I used to show cutting horses before I really got back in to barrel racing and all of the horses I rode out of either Peppy San Badger or Colonel freckles were lazy or kind of slow to learn, or got mad with hard training. Great athletes though! |
